“I’ve wanted to do everything with you since I was sixteen. Maybe I’ll never get my blood family back and that’s fine. This is my family now. You are my family. Take a chance with me? See where this goes?”

“Okay.” He didn’t have to think too hard to know this was the right choice. Building a home with Hugo, declaring their love, and putting everything they had into making their relationship work. Brand had earned his father’s complete trust in running things, and the ranch was on track for another successful slaughter in a few months, not to mention the wind turbine expansion. They could do this. He knew in his heart they could. “Okay, I’ll move in with you.”

“Good answer.” Hugo draped his arms around Brand’s shoulders and nuzzled their noses together. “I love you. But no more getting in front of broken bottles.”

“I’ll get in between you and anyone who ever tries to hurt you. Promise. Say it again?”

“I love you.”

“I love you, too, Hugo.”

They kissed, a slow, sensual action that cemented what Brand knew to be true about his life: he was in love and ready to create something completely new within these four walls. There would be challenges, sure, but Brand was prepared to face them. He owed himself, his boyfriend, and his family nothing less.

Brutus barked and chose that moment to barge in through the open front door. He head-butted Brand’s thigh, and both men broke apart to laugh and pet the happy dog. “Looks like it’s gonna be a threesome,” Brand quipped.

Hugo grinned. “I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
