But Olivia gazed into his eyes, her own blue ones filled with the fire of determination. “I want you,” she told him fiercely. “I wantall of you.”
He groaned and sank fully into her, breaking through her maidenhood as he swallowed her cry of pain with a deep kiss.
Moments later, he rained soft kisses all over her face.
“Are you all right?” he asked her.
She nodded and with a tremulous smile, “It feels…oh, I do not know. But it is not painful at all…”
Isaac smiled and fought to rein in his desires as he began to slowly move within her. When Olivia let out a soft moan of approval, he smiled and began to thrust into her.
Slowly, they began to move together in a dance as old as time, their bodies surging toward each other as they strained toward desire.
“Isaac…” Olivia gasped, her nails digging into his skin.
“It is all right, my sweet,” he coaxed her. “I am right here with you.”
He could feel the pressure building between them. She was close to the peak and so was he.
“Let go, Olivia,” he rasped against her neck. “Let go. I’ve got you.”
He thrust into her, and he felt something within him burst as Olivia let out a keening cry. He emptied himself into her—all his happiness, his darkness, his regrets…
She took them all and in return, she gave him something he had thought was impossible.
He looked down at her in wonder. Her slumberous eyes gazed back at him, and a tired smile drifted across her beautiful features.
He had found it—it was right here, in the woman lying in his arms, her nose buried most adorably into his side.
Olivia had brought himpeace.
CHAPTERTWENTY-ONE
Warmth.
It was the first thing that he felt in his transition from slumber to wakefulness, the warmth of the nubile body pressed close to his side. When he looked down slightly, he could see the side profile of Olivia’s face illuminated by the light from the hearth. Isaac felt something unfurl from inside him as a small smile blossomed on his face.
Beside him, the sleeping woman began to stir. Her eyes fluttered open and for a moment, she appeared to be confused as she took in the sight before her.
“Good evening, Olivia. I trust you slept well?”
For some reason, the twin spots of pink that appeared on her cheeks pleased him greatly. It made him want to press a soft kiss to the rosy flush, but she was already slipping out of his arms.
“Oh dear, what time is it?” she fretted, reaching for the scattered articles of clothing about them.
Isaac frowned. He had never had a woman try to worm her way out of his bed before him and it was a rather galling experience.
“Almost time for dinner, I would think,” he shrugged, sitting up from the chaise.
“I have to get back home,” she muttered. “Or they will be looking for me.”
They, as in her aunt and cousin. Quite possibly her brother, too, if Daniel was joining them for dinner that night.
She pulled on her chemise and her stockings as Isaac put on his pants, frowning at the entire situation the whole time. Somehow, this was not what he had in mind when he woke up.
But this is much better than if she woke up screaming, he tried to console himself.
If Olivia were to express any sort of horror upon waking up naked beside him, it would not only have made for an uncomfortable situation, it would probably have been downright mortifying.
