Chapter Twenty-One
Diamond crushed her mouth to Sayer’s, tasting him like she was starving—like she’d forgotten how good he could feel.
He growled low in his throat, hands gripping her waist before lifting her effortlessly. Her legs locked around his hips like muscle memory, and he squeezed her ass, hard.“Mine,”he muttered against her lips, voice thick and possessive.
She leaned back just enough to meet his eyes.“Not yet,”she said, breathlessly. A slow smirk tugged at her mouth.“But I wouldn’t say no to the idea.”
“That’s mine in every way that counts,”he answered, and carried her the rest of the way to the bed.
He lowered her gently, letting her knees sink into the mattress, and stared for a moment—his fingers threading into her hair like he couldn’t decide whether to pull her closer or just look at her.
“I missed your mouth,”he murmured, thumbing her bottom lip.“Missed how you looked at me like I’m the only man in the damn world.”
Her hands went to his belt, slow, steady. “You are right now.”
There was no frenzy between them, just heat laced with memory. The way she undid his buckle wasn’t rushed; it was reverent. As if she’d waited long enough and wasn’t about to waste a second.
He let her work, watching her with a dark gaze that always made her knees weak.
“You gonna be good for me tonight, Diamond?”he asked, voice gravely and promised sin.
She looked up at him, wicked and unrepentant.“Never.”
Sayer chuckled, low and dangerous.“Didn’t think so.”
She freed him from his jeans, her hand curling around him with the kind of confidence that only came from knowing every inch of him. He groaned; eyes fluttering shut for a beat as her thumb swept over the tip.
“Fuck, I missed this mouth,”he muttered, tugging gently on her hair, guiding her closer.
Diamond kissed his hip instead, then the crease where muscle met skin, slow and torturous.“You’re not the only one who’s been starving,”she murmured against his skin, then took him into her mouth, slow and deep.
His hips jerked instinctively, hand tightening in her hair.“Goddamn, Diamond…”
She worked him with perfect rhythm—no hesitation, no shame. She knew exactly how to unravel him. And she wanted to. Because this wasn’t about taking control. This was aboutremindinghim who she was, whotheywere.
When he pulled her off him with a rough groan, she wiped her mouth with the back of her hand, eyes gleaming.“Don’t stop me unless you’re ready to finish in my mouth.”
Sayer’s jaw clenched.“Not tonight.”He grabbed her wrists and yanked her up, flipping her onto her back in one fluid motion. “ Tonight, I’m inside you when I come.”
She laughed, breathless, legs already parting for him.“Then what the fuck are you waiting for?”
He didn’t need more encouragement. He dragged her jeans from her legs while she pulled her shirt over her head. She lay there in a pair of pale pink cotton briefs. Sexy.
His mouth found her neck, then her chest, teeth grazing sensitive skin as he pushed her thighs apart and slid two fingers through her heat.“Fuck, baby. You’re soaked.”
“Yeah, well,”she panted, arching into his touch,“maybe don’t wait so long next time.”
Sayer pressed his forehead to hers as he lined himself up. “ Say you missed me.”
“I didn’t.”She licked her lips.“I ached for you.”
That broke him.
He thrust into her, slow but deep, dragging a broken sound from her throat. Her nails raked down his back as he set the rhythm, each stroke building pressure, tension, fire.
They didn’t need to talk anymore. Their bodies did the speaking—grinding, gasping, chasing release like it was the only truth they had left.
And when she came shaking, breathless, his name a curse and a prayer—he followed with a growl and a kiss that tasted like sin and salvation all at once.
She lay beneath him, breath shallow, skin flushed, hair a wild halo across the pillows. Sayer stayed above her, still inside her, both caught in the lingering haze of it. His forehead pressed gently to hers, their chests moving in sync.
Neither of them spoke for a moment.
Then she exhaled a slow laugh, fingers lazily tracing the line of his spine. He smiled against her cheek; the sound rumbling low in his chest.“You bite when you’re about to come.”
“I do not.”
“You do,”he murmured, kissing the fresh mark on his shoulder.“Right here. I’ll have your teeth in my skin for days.”
“Good. Maybe next time you’ll learn to hurry up.”
He pulled back just enough to look down at her—messy, smug, still gorgeous.“You say that like you didn’t beg for it.”
She rolled her eyes, grinning.“Begged? Please.”
Sayer chuckled, brushing damp hair from her face, his touch suddenly gentle—reverent. His fingers followed the curve of her jaw, the slope of her throat, the way her pulse still beat hard under her skin.
“You okay?”he asked softly, all teasing dropping away.
She nodded.“Better than okay,”her voice dipped quieter now.“You?”
His answer was another kiss—slow, unhurried, like he was memorizing her all over again.“Yeah. I’m good.”He kissed her again, then murmured,“I didn’t think I’d get to have you so soon.”
Diamond’s smile faltered, just for a second, before she pulled him down to lie beside her, her leg slung over his hip. She toyed with the edge of the sheet.“You got lucky.”
He smirked.“Baby, luck had nothing to do with it.”
“Shut up before I bite you again.”
“Don’t threaten me with a good time.”
She laughed—really laughed—and nestled closer, her head resting on his chest, his arms wrapping around her like they still fit just right. And maybe, for now, they did.
Diamond’s laughter softened into a hum as she rested her cheek against his chest. His fingers lazily traced circles on her bare back, both suspended in that rare, quiet space where nothing else mattered.
For once, everything felt still. A knock. Sharp and impatient sounded in the small room. They both froze.
Another knock, harder this time.“Diamond! We gotta move!”came a muffled voice through the door.
She groaned, dropping her head against Sayer with a dramatic sigh.“Are you fucking kidding me?”
Sayer huffed a quiet laugh.“Guess we weren’t missed for long.”
“They always need me when I’m finally naked and happy.”She sat up, the sheet slipping down her body, unapologetically bare as she dragged a hand through her tangled hair.
Sayer reached for his jeans on the floor.“Think they heard everything?”
She shot him a look over her shoulder.“I hope so.”Then a louder knock had her looking towards the door.“Five minutes, or I swear I’ll come out there still dripping and make eye contact.”
A beat of silence, then a hurried,“I—I’ll be outside!”
Sayer barked out a laugh.“Cruel.”
“Efficient,”she said, smirking as she stood and grabbed her clothes and tugging them on without shame.“Now hurry, hotshot. Apparently, we’ve got somewhere to be.”
He caught her wrist before she walked away, pulling her down for one last kiss—slow, lingering, and full of promise.“When this is over … you’re mine again.”
Diamond smiled against his mouth.“Only if you earn it.”
