"Thank you, Flora. You’re looking pretty gorgeous yourself," I say as I glance around. "Is everything set up?"
"It sure is, lady. Come, let me show you around."
Alex is already discussing business with a guy but he must feels me looking at him, and he winks and then smiles. I turn away, knowing that he knows where I'm going to be.
Looking at all the art is one of my favorite things to do. I took Alex's decision to have up-and-coming artists to show their work at these events, and now Flora and I find these artists so that they can get their first sale or chance of a showing. After looking around, I glance around the room to find Alex. I feel like I need to know where he is. He must feel the same because I see him looking for me. When our eyes meet, we walk toward each other, like we are drawn together.
"Hey, baby, can we leave yet?" he asks as he pulls me close. "I know what I would rather be doing."
"I know, Alex, but you're the star of the event, you can't leave yet."
"I can do what I want, Em." He grabs my hand and pulls me down the corridor away from the party. The elevator door opens, and he pulls me inside. When the door closes, he pushes me against the back wall, his hands on either side of my face.
"I love you, Em. More than you will ever know. I never thought I'd ever find someone who would put up with my psychotic ass."
I grab his ass and squeeze. "I'm not sure I'd say psychotic, but it's a nice ass."
He pulls me closer so I can feel his hard cock between us. "I mean it. We were meant to meet that night and I think that fate stepped in for us to be together."
The lift stops and when the doors open, I gasp. In front of me is a gazebo, with lights everywhere, a table set for two with candles and two waiters are stood all in black with white cloths over their arms.
"What's going on Alex? We're already married so I know you are not going to propose." I laugh.
"Just because we are working doesn't mean we can't celebrate our love for each other." He takes my hand and leads me over to the table, pulling out the chair for me to sit.
He sits on the other side and one of the waiters appears with champagne. When he's finished pouring it Alex holds up his glass and I do the same.
"Here's to our first year of marriage. A year ago today, we solidified the union we already had. You were mine at first glance. You changed something inside of me and I will thank you for that forever. I love you more each day and I couldn't do this journey with anyone else. Here's to us both."
We clink our glasses together and tears prickle my eyes. "Alex, I've gone from a girl who just wanted to paint to a smart businesswoman and an incredible wife because of your love."
"Incredible wife, huh?" He laughs. "I'd second that. Once we've eaten, we will be left alone here. Look over there," he points to the corner of the roof where there are candles and some cushions on the ground. "I promise you the stars, Em, and tonight we are going to make love under them. I love you and I don't ever want to be away from you."
"I feel the same, Alex. I love you forever."
