Page 43 of Finding Finn
I walked over and put my hand on his arm. “Because I love you.”
“Well, damn…” He smiled and his face brightened. A tear slid down his perfect face. “That’s interesting.”
“Why is that?” I whispered as he took me in his arms.
“Because I love you, too.”
There are epic kisses in film and book, TV and stage, but none of them ever had the same intensity as the one Jim James gave me in that moment. We levitated off the train, through the roof, and into the atmosphere. It was magical.
I had made the right decision. I was exactly where I belonged. Who knew when I moved here that I would finally find what I was looking for. It wasn’t just Jim – it was myself.
I was happy. And I knew that I was right where I belonged.
EPILOGUE
Finn
“Alright, everyone. Hands in. I want you all to have a wonderful opening night. I am so proud of what you’ve done and the work that we’ve created, but now it’s time to let the audience in. On three. Ready?”
Everyone put their hand in a giant pile.
“One… Two… Three!” We all said together, and our hands flew in the air.
I made my way out of the greenroom and into the back of the booth. The last audience members were rushing through the lobby to take their seats.
“Are they ready?”
“I think so. God, I’m so nervous. I really hope that Brittany hits her mark for the Tomorrow spotlight.”
“I hope the dog doesn’t try to jump into the audience.”
“Well, that’s the thing about live theatre. You never know.”
“I love you, Finn.”
“I love you, too.”
The lights went out and the curtain opened. It was a perfect night. It was going to be a perfect life.
I put my hand on Jim’s shoulder as he manipulated the lights and mics throughout the show.
When I took my bow at the end of the show – It was the most meaningful bow I had ever taken.
A pivot. Step ball change, kick, spin, and kick…
The show went ever on.
