Kyrie
My heart stutters in my chest as his tongue moves along my skin, and the power in his voice shakes me to my soul. I take a shuddery breath and meet his soulless gaze. The weight of my newfound captivity lies heavily across my shoulders, and I feel the fight drain from my body.
I’m exhausted. Lack of sleep due to my nightmares has clearly taken its toll, and now I’m either hallucinating wildly, still dreaming, or have lost my goddamn mind entirely.
“You can never leave. You are bound to me now. This is your fate.”
Lucian is not a man, and nor is he a fully-fledged monster—regardless, his inhuman darkness is overwhelming.
“I came to your realm to recruit followers to protect my home, but also to hunt for someone to feast upon.”
My heart stutters as a fresh surge of fear shoots through me. “I found you. I came to you in the night, and from the moment your blood touched my lips I wanted to drain every last drop of the sweetest blood I have ever tasted. I was captivated by your beauty and light, and I wanted to take it—take your soul for myself.”
“What does that mean?” I ask, not sure if I’m fully understanding what he intends for me.
“It means you’re mine, Kyrie. Or at least, you will be.”
“What?” I gasp.
“You belong to me, and while I certainly want to drink your blood again and again, I don’t want to slay you. I want to possess you, body and soul.” He growls possessively; and before I can respond or even take my next breath, he’s kissing me.
Lucian—a vampire, and a monster—is kissing me like he’s not a killer, like he’s not a monster who has just confessed to wanting to harvest me for my blood. Shock makes me freeze in his hold, but as a low moan rumbles through his chest, it vibrates through my lips and I gasp at the tickling sensation. He bites down on my bottom lip, piercing it with his teeth and spilling my blood. I’m trapped in his hold as he claims my mouth in a brutal, crimson kiss.
