“What do you think?”
Was he serious? My heart raced even faster, trying to figure out the best way to answer his question. “I think you’re sweet, too.”
He laughed. “That’s it?”
“That’s all you’re going to get out of me right now.”
“That’s fine. I saw you checking me out at the pool.”
My face erupted in flames. Good thing we weren’t in person. He was bold over the phone. I could be bold, too. “Mine weren’t the only roving eyes.”
“Touché.” He paused. “You’re gorgeous, Ivy.”
I sucked in a breath. This was not a conversation I wanted to have while driving, but I never wanted it to stop. “Right back at you, Scott.”
He chuckled. “I’m glad we have that covered.”
“Yep.”
A slightly awkward silence filled the car.
“Well, I should get to bed,” he said. “Thank you for calling. I’ll talk to you tomorrow?”
“Sounds great. Sweet dreams.”
“I think they will be. Good night, Ivy.”
I clicked off the phone and fanned myself. What was I doing, flirting with Scott King? He was my best friend’s brother. Was I insane?
I had no idea, but the only thing I knew was that I didn’t want to stop.
