“Not yet,” she moaned. “Please, Caillen…” She was begging, although she had no idea why.
Caillen continued his relentless assault on her senses by kissing his way down to the folds between her legs, which were hot, moist, and waiting for him. He parted her thighs and inserted one, then two, fingers inside her, sliding them in and out slowly, encouraged by her gasps of delight. Then he swept the tip of his tongue through her soft wetness and heard Erin give a little squeal of surprise and pleasure.
“What are you doing?” she asked, trying to look down at him, but all she could see was the top of his golden head between her thighs.
“I am making you comfortable,” he growled. “Let go, love. Let it happen.”
Erin plunged her fingers into his thick golden hair as he began to lick, suck, and nibble the little nub of hard flesh at her core until she could stand the sweet torture no longer and screamed her pleasure to the heavens.
“What was…?” Erin began, but her question was silenced by the sweet pressure of Caillen’s lips on hers as he kissed his way to her very soul. Then she felt him nudging her legs apart even further as he settled his body between them. She tensed in anticipation of pain, but there was none, only a warm feeling of fullness as he eased inside her and rested for a moment.
“Are you comfortable now?” he whispered with a wicked smile.
“Yes, very comfortable.” Erin’s hips bucked upwards without her volition again just as Caillen began to thrust inside her.
At that moment, he was completely content. There was nowhere on Earth he wanted to be but with his love, his wife, his Erin. He felt as though his whole life had been leading to this perfect time as their bodies moved in the oldest, most primal rhythm of all.
“I love you, Erin,” he whispered hoarsely, but Erin could no longer speak. She had thought that the pleasure that had erupted from within her a moment before was the ultimate. Now, with some deep instinct within her, she realized that there was more, but she knew that she would have to work for it. There was a mountain to climb, and she was almost there.
There was a moment of panic when she thought she would never reach the summit. Then, with one last thrust from Caillen, she was there, standing on the peak as wave after wave of ecstasy washed over her, and once more, she cried out, even more loudly than before, and hung on to Caillen as if her life depended on it.
As he climbed toward his own fulfillment, Caillen saw Erin’s face and heard her triumphant scream, and it sent him over the edge into bliss. He had never before experienced such a fierce and satisfying climax, but then he had never been in love before.
When it was over, they lay for a long time saying nothing, merely looking into each other’s eyes and smiling. Caillen kissed the tip of Erin’s nose, and she giggled.
“I am comfortable now, Caillen,” she murmured. “In fact, I have never been more comfortable in my whole life.”
“I am so glad.” He smiled lovingly. “Making love is not about one person submitting to the other, Erin. It is about feeling good, giving love, and being loved in return. If I have helped you to feel that, then I am content.”
“You have,” she assured him, kissing him. “When I was forced to go to Michael, I was an innocent, and it was not until much later that I realized how badly I had been used. I never hated Nairn for making me go through it, though. He was completely honest with me, and now I have Stephen, my beautiful boy. But now…now I feel as if I have discovered a new world. I have not felt so happy since the day I held my baby in my arms for the first time, and I feel as though I am a part of you and as if you are a part of me. Do you think that is fanciful?”
“Not at all,” he replied. “I feel that way too, except that I have never held my baby in my arms. Perhaps we can put that right soon.”
“I hope so.” Erin sighed and yawned. “I long for that day. Caillen, I am so tired, but I don’t want to go to sleep.”
“Why not?” he asked, sweeping his finger over her full lower lip. “We can keep each other warm.”
“I never want this day to end,” she replied, smiling.
“But it has to,” he pointed out. “Then we can start another one. The first full day of our lives together. Besides, I suspect you will need a lot of loving, my sweetheart. You need to keep your strength up.” His eyes were twinking.
“I suppose so,” Erin smiled drowsily. “You know best, Cal. You are the steward of my heart.”
