Story: Fae’s Love (Summer Court #8)
Chapter thirty-five
Brandon
M y father. The man I’d thought had abandoned me and my family arrived by the side of the Demon King. He was right. The old man had little time left in him, but I’d take whatever time we had left. So would my mother.
She rushed into his outstretched arms as though she didn’t care he looked older than her father. She’d taken my explanation for his disappearance better than I’d expected.
Love. Unconditional love.
I had that love now with Roisin.
My Fae Princess.
She wrapped her arms around me from behind and rested her chin on my shoulder.
“We’ll stay here for now.”
“Really?”
“Aye.” She kissed the side of my cheek. “We have forever to explore. What’s a few more years here? ”
“I love you so much.” I choked on the emotion clogging my throat.
“Go,” she said. “Make peace with your father. I saw how much his absence hurt you. I saw the memory you saw in that forest. How it wasn’t his choice to leave you. I hope it heals your wounds.”
I lifted her hand and kissed it. She let me go and I walked over to my father. He released the tight hold he had on my mother and stepped toward me on his shaky legs.
“Son, please forgive me. I never meant to hurt you.”
“Yes.”
His gaze flicked up to my crown.
“You’re... you…”
“I’m a Fae now.”
“Not possible,” he said.
I smiled. “Anything is possible when you have a love so great it changes the entire world as we know it.”
I glanced over at Roisin talking to her sister Briana. Roisin looked happy. Content. Her gaze met mine across the garden. Around her, the flowers burst into bloom, the garden reshaped into a once glorious place. Briana smiled too. The sisters hugged.
My new family.
My new future.
I stepped toward my father and hugged him. He was my family, too. Now and forever, the Fae and the humans would live in harmony. All because I’d fallen in love with a Fae Princess and she’d fallen in love with me .
Being fated to her was the icing on the top of this magical ending. Which was the beginning of our happily ever after. To all our happily ever afters.
ROISIN
Sunlight streamed through the trees. Warmth caressed our limbs. The Summer Court was no longer our gilded prison. Fae came and went to Earth as they pleased. Everyone was happy. No one more so than me.
The breeze ruffled my hair as we rode the Unicorn across the fields of the Summer Court. Brandon’s power over animals had let us make friends with the allusive creature. Once we’d both learned how to ride the magnificent Unicorns without falling off, we did so every time we returned to the Fae Kingdom.
Brandon’s arms wrapped around my waist, holding me in place. Tight against his body. My favorite place to be. His lips kissed the side of my neck.
“I love it here.”
“Me too.” I tilted my head back and rested it on his chest.
His palms flared with his powers, and the Unicorn surged into a gallop. I laughed as I wrapped my fingers in its silky mane.
“In a hurry to go somewhere?” I asked .
“Always with you. No matter how long we’re together, being alone with you is still the best place in all the realms.”
I couldn’t agree with him more. Being with my fated mate was worth everything we endured. Worth every heartache, pain, and suffering.
Because once you found true love, there was no better place to be except with the one who loved you, accepted you for who you were, and would stand by your side through the good times and the bad.
A love that would last forever.
