Story: Exes and Oh Hell No

FORD
I don’t hear the music.
I don’t see anyone else.
I don’t care about anything except her .
The moment Harper steps into view, I stop breathing.
Because she’s fucking stunning.
White dress, hugging her curves, her eyes locked on me like I’m the only thing that exists.
And fuck, I feel feral.
Like I need to lock this down immediately.
Like I need to get through this ceremony as fast as humanly possible.
She steps closer, smirking like she knows exactly what I’m thinking.
Because she does.
By the time she reaches me, I can’t even pretend to be civilized anymore.
Connor starts officiating.
I don’t hear a single fucking word.
I’m too busy memorizing her.
My wild, reckless, trouble-making woman.
"Ford," Connor says, snapping me out of it. "Your vows?"
I tighten my grip on her waist. "You're mine," I murmur. "Always."
Her breath catches.
I lean in, brushing my lips against her ear. "And after this?” I murmur, my voice dark and full of promise. “I'm going to make sure you never forget it."
Her entire body shudders.
I fucking feel it.
"Jesus Christ," Jake mutters. "Can you wait till after the ceremony to devour her?"
"No."
Harper laughs, shaking her head.
"Say the damn vows before Ford combusts," Daltyn calls from behind me.
I don’t look away from her.
She’s grinning up at me, eyes shining, the happiest I’ve ever seen her.
"I do," she says softly.
She says something about a decade apart and finally being together again.
But I barely register the words.
All I see is her.
Her lips move as she slips the ring on my finger.
Her breath hitches as I slide mine onto hers.
She smiles. “I’m yours.”
My chest tightens.
I nod. “Mine.”
For an eternity.
Connor clears his throat. "By the power vested in me?—"
I don’t let him finish.
I grab Harper, kiss her, and pick her up in the same breath.
The crowd erupts.
Gram hollers. "That’s my boy!”
Jake sighs. "I knew he wouldn’t wait."
Connor?
He’s busy laughing his ass off.
Harper’s busy moaning against my lips, clinging to me, already knowing exactly what’s coming next.
Because now?
Now, I get to take my wife to the cabin I rented on the other side of the lake.
And this time?
There’s nowhere for her to hide.
