Page 18 of Entombed By Blood
“Tie her up and get it over with,” Vane suggests, half-heartedly. “She’ll only hurt herself otherwise.”
I glare at him. “Ignore my brother. He’s an idiot. Evelyn, we’re your thralls now. Can’t you feel us? We won’t hurt you.”
At the word ‘thralls,’ she seems to shrink in on herself. Her eyes, already impossibly wide, grow shiny with tears.
“No.”
I blink, and she’s back in the coffin, slamming the lid on herself.
“Get her out,” Gideon orders.
Draven goes straight for the silver box, intent on doing just that.
“Let me.” I cut between the vampire and his objective, but I’m speaking to Gideon. “We don’t want to traumatise her any more than we have to.”
“Silas, you don’t know what you’re doing,” Vane interrupts.
“I do. Just give me some time. You know I’m less of a threat to her.”
My dominance is considerable, but it’s a quiet, subtle thing. I don’t wield it like a second cock like the others do, so they’re shocked enough to listen to me when I use it now.
I hold my breath as Gideon contemplates it.
When the Alpha speaks, it’s careful and considered. He stares at the coffin the whole time, even though his words are directed at us. “Vane, guard the door. Draven, sweep the place for bugs, then get some rest.”
The order holds enough command that even my brother doesn’t argue. Though it doesn’t stop him from huffing as he leaves the room.
Draven disappears, slinking into the shadows.
Creepy asshole.
I disregard all of them as I turn back to the coffin.
“Evelyn?”
“Evie,” Gideon interrupts. “Hesaid no one but Cain uses her full name.”
“Evie,” I correct. “Hey, beautiful, my name’s Silas and I’m yours.”
“You’re his leverage. A test.” The voice from beyond the silver is muffled and scratchy with a hint of an accent I can’t place.
I spare a glance at my alpha and bite my lip.
Shit.
Deep breaths,I remind myself. She’s going to need a little patience, that’s all.
“All right, you can stay in there if you like.” I slide down until my ass hits the floor and grimace at the erection that just won’t go away. “I’m just gonna sit here and talk. When you get hungry, you don’t have to go far and there are clothes for you out here as well.”
Silence.
“You should know there are four of us—”
“Six,” she hisses.
“Fourof us,” I insist, shooting a panicked glance at Gideon, who just shrugs.
Oh yeah, I asked him to trust me like I knew what I was doing, didn’t I? Fuck, I miss Finn. Our omega would know exactly how to calm the terrified woman and set her at ease. Instead, she’s stuck with me.
