“No, I said I would think about it.” I draw in a breath when his lips brush my neck.
He slowly spins me around, and his smile has the same effect on me that it always does.
“Since you’re smiling, does that mean your employees rated you highly via the survey—for real this time?”
“They gave me 38%,” he says. “I added fifty points to make it an 88.”
“Sounds like you’re still a terrible person to work for,” I say. “Looks like I made the right choice.”
“I would’ve had to let you go either way.” He runs his fingers through my hair.
“Why? You changed the fraternization policy.”
“You still owe me that quarterly report,” he says. “I just realized this morning I’m still missing it.”
“I thought you let it go.”
“Since you have so much free time, and I’m generously covering all the costs of your new office space?—”
“I offered to pay you back.”
“I’ll never take a dime from you.” He presses his forehead against mine. “Alas, I think you should use some of your free hours to complete that report.”
“Please tell me you’re kidding, Lucian.”
“You could at least give me half of it.”
I blink.
“I’m kidding, Kendall.” He lets out a low laugh. “I finished it a long time ago, but there is something I do want from you.”
“What?”
He lets me go and pulls out his phone, showing me a survey.
How would you rate Mr. Lucian Pearson?
Holding back a laugh, I shade in the stars and place a comment in the box.
10/10 stars. Especially in the bedroom.
I return the screen to him and he smiles.
“That should’ve been the rating you originally gave me,” he says.
“I gave you what you deserved.”
“Fair enough.” He pulls me close again, pressing his mouth against mine. “My turn to show you why I deserved a ten back then…”
