Page 80 of Devastation
Ash growls at him, "This is not the time."
“I just don’t understand how she’s impervious to my charms and good looks!” Eros exclaims incredulously while flinging his hands up and down him to emphasize his point, completely ignoring our statements.
"You're infuriating! Have you ever heard of privacy?" I ask incredulously, truly shocked by his disregard for it.
My other four mates peek out of the bedroom and groan in annoyance.
"Why are you here? How did you find us?" Hale asks, looking seconds away from fighting this god for being here.
Eros, being the self-absorbed god he is, continues ignoring his questions and looks at me, “I need your help since you grew up in this world. This is the favor that I am choosing to call in.”
Confused at his statement, I ask, "What do you mean? Why does it matter if we grew up here?"
He throws his hands up in the air and exclaims, "You understand humans!"
Still confused, but wanting him to get the hell back to his realm and not owe him anymore favors, I yell, “Fine! Get out so we can shower and get dressed to assist you. The faster we’re done with this the better.”
He smirks, satisfied that he got his way. As he turns to exit the room I can’t help but ask his retreating back, “Do you at least know her name?”
He scoffs while holding a hand to his chest, “Of course. I’m not a complete buffoon.”
Could have fooled me.
“Her name is Mika. She's a fiery ball of personality,” he smirks with his answer.
My heart all but stops beating at his words.
The name of my best friend in my first life.
Could it be? What are the odds? Is reincarnation of souls possible without a god intervening?
Crazier things have happened.
I run towards the bathroom, sheet wrapped around me, with a sudden pep to my step, rushing to get ready so I can find out.
Maybe the human realm won’t be as boring as Serenity or I once thought.
