“Why was he trying to go after me, anyway? Did he say?” There’s an uncomfortable silence, and I check to make sure I didn’t lose the call. “Director Eisenthal?”

“Noone’s told you?”

A chill washes through my gut at his tone. “Told mewhat?”

An uncomfortable hesitation fills his voice when he next speaks. “We…haven’t released this to the media yet. Ongoing investigation, so don’t say anything. I know gave orders for you to be briefed on this.”
