Onyx’s tail unfurled from his hips. The sleek appendage was the same translucent blue as his horns, the base flushed deep lavender, fading to what Nico could only call a purple blush at the top of Onyx’s ass.

“Nico, I—I’m sorry. I can’t. Oh, fuck.” Onyx turned his face away.

“You’re gorgeous.” Nico tangled a hand in Onyx’s hair, turning his head until their eyes met.

Onyx blinked, and tears slid down his cheeks. “I didn’t mean to show you.”

“But you did, and that’s okay. I’m glad. I think deep down, you know you can let me in.”

Onyx’s breathing shallowed. “I was scared something had happened to you. That’s why I came. I have to protect you so you don’t get hurt.”

Nico’s chest seized.

Why would Onyx think something had happened to him?

He could find out the details later. All that mattered was Onyx opening up. Showing Nico everything. Even if he hadn’t meant to release his horns or tail, he must’ve felt safe if this was his body’s reaction. And there was no getting around the fact that Onyx chose to speak at last.

“I appreciate you wanting to protect me, Onyx. I like knowing that. You don’t have to hide caring about me.”

“Yes, I do.” Onyx’s teary gaze sharpened. “I always do.”

“You don’t have to with me. I’m here for you, Onyx. I’m not going anywhere.”

Onyx closed his eyes.

Nico braced himself for Onyx’s argument, his dismissal, but it didn’t come.

“Fuck me, Nico. Please. That’s what I need right now. If you’re here for me, please just do it. Make me feel good.”

He sounded so desperate, so scared. Did he not believe Nico? Did he think Nico would leave? Nico wanted to stay in the worst way. He wanted to be Onyx’s everything. Comfort him. Support him. Defend him against anyone who doubted him.

“I’m not just going to fuck you to make you feel good, Onyx. I’m going to do it because I want it as much as you do. Because you’re so good, trusting me. Because I’ve never been more turned on than I am seeing you—all of you—laid out for me. I’ve never wanted anyone the way I want you.”

“Fuck, Nico, please.” Onyx bucked his hips.

Nico straightened and pulled his shirt over his head. “Let me get lube.”

“Don’t you dare leave me. Not for a second. You don’t need it.” Onyx scrambled to get up, and Nico gripped his hips, holding him down. He didn’t throw Nico off, even though he could have.

Onyx’s tail flicked back and forth, brushing Nico’s stomach.

He tightened his grip on Onyx’s hips. “You need lube. I don’t want to hurt you that way.”

“You won’t.” Onyx huffed and wiggled his ass. “Stick your fingers in me and see.”

What? There was no way Onyx had prepped before coming over,was there? Not if he was worried Nico had been hurt. Besides, Nico would have noticed when he’d spread him open earlier.

He released Onyx’s hips and slid his fingers along Onyx’s crack. He found Onyx’s hole, and his eyes popped wide.

He was slick.

Nico pressed a finger inside, and Onyx groaned, pushing onto it.

“When did you…?” Nico couldn’t help pumping his finger. Onyx gripped him tight, sucking him into his wet heat.

“Demon trick.” Onyx shot a positively evil look over his shoulder. His cheeks and horns flushing an even darker lavender, hints of red coming through. “I can get myself wet whenever I want.”

“What?” Nico’s mind blanked.
