Chapter Seventeen
L onnie
Lonnie was in heaven. He had to be. In the past four days, he and Callan hadn’t been able to keep their hands off each other, and it was the best fucking sex he’d had in his life. And no matter where they did it, Callan always picked him up and carted him to either the couch or the bed for a cuddle. The demon was a major cuddler, which Lonnie absolutely loved.
He’d never felt so cherished in his life.
This morning, as he brewed coffee for them, he looked out of his kitchen window and sighed. It was a beautiful day. And somehow he’d lucked out on this new…boyfriend? Was Callan his boyfriend? Because they certainly felt like they were building something deeper than just hooking up. The demon kissed him like he was infinitely precious, and the way he touched his body had made all his lingering insecurities over it just vanish. He felt attractive with Callan. More than he ever had with anyone else.
He poured a cup of coffee into his favorite big mug that said I teach and I know things , then leaned against the counter for his first sip.
Callan came into the kitchen with another wrapped present along with his usual excited gift-giving expression.
“Okay, what am I doing to deserve all these presents?”
“Just being you.” Callan handed him the poorly wrapped gift that was obviously something soft like clothes or a blanket. He’d used too much paper, gathering it up on one side and covering it with a ton of tape.
Knowing Callan would want him to open it right away, Lonnie set down his coffee and started pulling at the tape. Inside was a huge black hoodie. Lonnie held it up and Callan’s scent fairly permeated the fabric. He held it to his nose and inhaled, loving that smell.
“It was mine,” Callan said. “Will you wear it?”
Lonnie stared at Callan, getting the feeling this gift was the most important of them all. A used piece of clothing. Maybe it meant something in his demon traditions, and the hope that it held a possessive meaning soared through him. He quickly pulled it over his head. The hem fell close to his knees, the sleeves draping far over his hands. Callan walked to him and started rolling up the sleeves. Then he wrapped his arms around Lonnie and lifted him high off his feet to bury his nose in the material over Lonnie’s chest.
Lonnie grabbed onto the base of Callan’s horns, a spark of heat going through him when Callan groaned.
“Callan, are your horns an erogenous zone?”
His demon—and he was starting to think of Callan as his—looked up at him with hooded eyes. “Turns me on.”
“Oh, really,” he drawled out as he slid his hands up and down those horns, causing Callan to groan again.
In the next instant, he was lowered just enough for Callan to take his mouth in the most thorough, toe-curling kiss ever. Callan explored every corner, his tongue going deep. It was Lonnie’s turn to groan then. He wrapped his legs around Callan and ground into him as lust exploded inside him.
Callan set him on the counter, cupping the sides of his neck in a possessive hold as he continued to devour his mouth.
Lonnie reached for Callan’s sweats and pushed them down as far as he could. Callan let go of him long enough to kick them the rest of the way off before he came back to his mouth.
But then he paused, head whipping toward the front door as it opened. Lonnie peeked around him, heat rushing into his cheeks as he saw Gabby stepping inside with her hand over her mouth and her eyes as big as saucers.
She dropped her hand, threw back her head and cackled.
“Callan, your sweats,” Lonnie hissed.
“I have nothing to hide.
“Well, I don’t want my sister seeing all your gorgeousness on display, okay?”
Callan grunted and bent to swipe up his pants and put them on.
“Don’t cover up on my account,” Gabby said, still chuckling as she walked farther into the house.
Lonnie jumped down off the counter and hurried to her, glad he was wearing a tent that would somewhat hide his erection. “What are you doing here?”
She was still eyeing Callan, whose ripped, beautiful chest was still very naked. Appreciation lit her blue eyes. “I came to see how you were doing with a bodyguard, but I can tell you’re doing just fine. More than fine. Holy fuck, he’s a big guy, huh?” She moved around Lonnie and held out her hand to Callan as she approached him. “I’m Lonnie’s sister, Gabby. And you are?”
“Callan,” he grunted, looking all kinds of grumpy, his sweatpants tented out in an obscene fashion that his sister would no doubt notice.
“I didn’t mean to break up the party. Didn’t expect to see a naked giant when I came to see my brother.” She turned to grin at Lonnie before the grin slid off her face. “What the hell are you wearing?”
“It’s Callan’s hoodie.”
“It’s yours now,” Callan quickly said as he moved to drape his arm over Lonnie’s shoulders.
Her gaze flicked back and forth between them. “So, is sex a part of all your bodyguard gigs?” she asked, aiming the question at Callan.
“Never was before,” he growled out, squeezing Lonnie close under his arm. “Couldn’t resist Lonnie.”
“You couldn’t, huh? Well.” She cleared her throat, dropped her purse onto the small kitchen table, then crossed her arms over her chest. “What are your intentions toward my brother?”
“Gabby.” Lonnie put a hell of a lot of warning into her name.
She held up a hand. “No, I want to know. I hired someone to protect you, not fuck you. I don’t know how to feel about this. At first, I was amused at the naked, now I’m thinking he’s taking advantage.”
“I’m over thirty years old, so I’m pretty sure I’d know if that were the case. What’s happening between us is very mutual and not really any of your business.”
“Have there been more notes?”
He realized he hadn’t told her about the figurine or the man who’d come into his house. Probably shouldn’t because it would just freak her out. “Yes, but I feel completely safe with Callan here.”
“You’re feeling something, all right,” she murmured. Waving her hand between them, she asked, “So this is how you two are passing the time? Shouldn’t you be, oh, I don’t know, trying to figure out who is watching you?”
“We have been doing that. But whoever it is isn’t leaving any clues, so it’s impossible to know.” He couldn’t very well tell her his stalker was a wizard who could instantaneously travel from one spot to another. She had no idea magic existed. She didn’t see Callan’s horns or his gray skin—she just saw a huge man. One who was sleeping with her brother. He supposed he could understand her concern. She had hired the guy after all.
“Look, Gabby. We’re doing what we can to figure this out and, well…” He glanced up at Callan. “We’re attracted to each other.”
Callan grunted. “It’s more than that.”
“It is?” Gabby narrowed her eyes. “You’re what, dating now?”
“Yes.” Callan emphasized the word heavily.
They were? He continued to gaze at Callan. Maybe that hope for a boyfriend was really coming true. They were having a lot of sex, yes. And Callan seemed really fond of him. Then there were all the gifts. The used hoodie meant something important to Callan, that much Lonnie understood. When Callan tilted his head down to look at Lonnie, there was so much affection in those brown eyes, Lonnie held his breath.
“Oh,” his sister breathed softly.
When he looked at her, she was smiling. She picked up her purse.
“I’m just going to leave you two to continue.”
Lonnie walked to the door to see her out, but she moved to Callan first.
“Please treat him right. He’s a wonderful person who deserves someone who sees that.”
Callan nodded. “I know.”
“Man of few words, I see. Lonnie will make up for that.” She winked at Lonnie, then walked to him to hug him. She whispered into his ear. “Rawr, he’s hot.”
“Right? How’d I get so lucky?”
She just shook her head. “Callan’s the lucky one, you doofus.”
