Epilogue
Steele
Three Years Later
Walking into the house after a long day of work, Steele hung his coat up and then walked to the kitchen, smelling the delicious scents coming from it.
Rickie was cooking and looked so insanely beautiful it wasn’t funny.
She had her hair up in a messy bun, with little tendrils falling around her face, no makeup on and an old apron tied around her waist.
She had their little boy in a bouncy seat on the counter and stood next to him as she sliced up some potatoes.
He knew she was making roast and mashed potatoes and couldn’t wait to eat the delicious meal.
She was talking to the baby, cooing at him, and laughing at the noises he was trying to make. Their son was named Cade Jones Reynolds.
Steele smiled, “He has a lot to say today.”
She looked over, and smiled back at him, “He sure does.”
The baby cooed at him and he undid the buckle on his seat and picked up the baby, kissing his head of dark hair.
He leaned over and kissed his wife too. “You are beautiful and perfect. I love you Bombshell.”
She leaned into him, kissing him back, “I love you too.”
Still holding the baby, he walked away to sit on one of the barstools. He looked down at Cade and started talking to him, who stared up at him with wide, dark eyes.
His eyes. Cade looked just like him, in every single way.
Cade smiled at him and Steele let him coo and wiggle, making happy noises as Rickie watched.
He laughed as Cade tried to ‘talk’ and he looked up, “He sure does want to talk doesn’t he?”
She laughed, “All day. Even when he is nursing. Silly boy.”
Steele kissed his son on the forehead, “He is the cutest little man though.”
They'd waited just over a year to have their baby and it was nice to have that time to themselves until then.
`And yet, the minute Cade was born, Steele wanted another.
He would try again tonight to convince his wife that she wanted one too.
The baby yawned and started rooting around, and Steele stood, handing the baby to Rickie, “I'll finish this. Why don’t you put him down for a nap and we'll eat after?”
“Okay, it won’t take long.”
She kissed him and walked upstairs to feed Cade.
Steele finished making dinner and knew that this was exactly what he wanted in life.
Rickie had made it all possible.
He was grateful his men had also found their happily ever after.
That was their story to tell though.
The End.
