Chapter Thirty-Five

Two Months Later

“Lana, you have some visitors.”

The announcement was made by one of the studio’s guides who stood in the doorway of the workshop, wearing a pleasant smile.

“Thank you, Sarah. They can come on in.” Lana sat down her thin paint brush, picked up a nearby towel, and wiped her hands.

“Lana!” Iris said as she hurried in.

Behind her, Jack said, “Now, honey. Slow down. I’m sure Lana is working very hard on this model and you might run into it and knock it over.

” His eyes fell to the tiny town that was set up on the large table before them.

“And that’s quite impressive! It would be a shame for all that work to go to waste. ”

“Yes, Sir,” Iris said.

The Littles hugged.

It was strange, Lana noted, seeing Iris dressed in “Big clothes.” But since they were in public, they couldn’t be as open about their unique dynamic.

Lana forgot all about that, though, and ran to Ace as he strolled in.

“Daddy!” she said, unable to help herself. Sarah was gone and she didn’t share the workspace with anyone else. Most likely, no one heard.

“Hi, babydoll,” he said, twirling her. “You ready for us to take you to lunch?”

“I’m taking you to lunch, remember? In the studio’s commissary.”

“Oh yeah,” Ace said. “Well, I’ll pay.”

She giggled. Looking around, she sighed with gratitude, something she’d done every day since coming to work.

Her stepdad was convicted again and wouldn’t be out of jail ever. And this time, the prosecution was so thorough that there wasn’t anyone in the gang left on the streets to try and go after Lana.

Not that it would matter, anyway.

She had Ace. And the other guys. Daddy and her Uncles would always keep her safe.

“You all hungry? I’m starving!” she said.

“Let’s go,” Ace said.

“But can I see where they make movies?” Iris asked in a pleading tone. “Please.”

Lana smiled. “You bet. In fact, after lunch, I have a whole studio tour lined up. Led by none other than Harrison.”

“Woohoo!” Iris cheered.

“In fact, he’s meeting us for lunch,” Lana continued.

“Then we better get a move on,” Ace said, holding out his arm. “Shall we?”

Lana giggled, grabbed hold, and allowed Daddy to escort her outside as they walked beside Jack and Iris.

As they stepped out into the brilliant California sun that bathed the magical studio, Lana couldn’t help but giggle again.

Life was just perfect.
