Christian walked into his front door. He automatically scanned the main living room for Harmony and continued into the kitchen, where he guessed he could find Harmony concocting a new dessert for him and the guys.
He joked with her that he’d gained several pounds eating her delicious desserts.
If he didn’t work out every day at the office gym, he knew that would have happened.
He stepped through the doorway and saw that the room was empty.
He turned. The first thing he saw was Harmony with her back to him.
She was looking out the sunroom window that faced the back of the house, with her arms wrapped around her midsection.
Christian could tell right away something had upset her.
Connor caught his attention as he walked toward him down the hallway.
Christian tipped his head toward Harmony. “What’s going on?”
“She’s been quiet ever since we brought her home from school.”
Christian set his briefcase down on the table inside the door.
“It was her last day. We were planning on going out to celebrate,” Christian said.
“Do you want me to stick around?” Connor asked.
“No, that’s fine. Did Nico take off already?” Christian asked.
“About an hour ago. He tried to talk to her, but she said she was fine.”
“I’ll take care of it. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“You got it, Boss.”
Christian waited until Connor left, locked the door, and turned on the alarm.
His stomach tightened when he caught her pensive expression in the reflection of the glass. He set his hands on her shoulders.
“Hello, Sweetheart.”
Harmony jumped and looked over her shoulder.
“Daddy, you’re home,” she said and tried to smile.
Christian turned her toward him and then set his hands on her hips.
“Tell me what’s wrong,” he demanded.
Harmony laid her hands on his chest. “I … nothing…”
“Don’t,” a purr of menace deepened his tone. “All I want to hear is the truth.”
Harmony shivered at the dark, demanding voice. She wasn’t afraid of him. She never had been, even from the start.
“I finished my classes today.”
Christian nodded. “I know, Baby. Remember, we were going to go out and celebrate.”
“I know,” she said.
“I’m not even going to ask if you passed. I saw how hard you worked, and I already know how smart you are.”
“I have to sign up for fall classes.”
Christian nodded.
Harmony sighed. “But, I’m not sure about being in college now.”
Christian grinned. “Baby, I don’t care if you go to college.”
“But I don’t want to sit around all day. I can’t. It would drive me crazy.”
“I don’t care what you do as long as you’re happy.”
“I was thinking about getting a job.”
Christian’s smile fell. His mind raced as he tried to think of how he’d manage to protect her. He couldn’t have the guys stand around at her job. He also knew deep down he wanted her at their home, where she was safe.
“I think you should take some time to think about it. You know you never have to work, right?”
Harmony shook her head. “I know, but I don’t like the idea of living off of you. It makes me feel like a parasite.”
“Jesus, woman, it’s my dream to take care of you. I want to be your whole world.”
“You already are, Daddy,” she exclaimed. “But that doesn’t mean you have to pay for everything.”
“Oh, Baby. I have so much money, we wouldn’t be able to spend it in ten lifetimes. You don’t ever have to worry about it, not ever. You love cooking, gardening, and fixing up the house. Could that be enough to keep you busy for now?”
“Yes, I suppose.”
Christian grinned. “Don’t forget your visits to Agnes and taking care of me.”
Harmony snorted. “That in itself is enough. You work too hard.”
Christian pressed a kiss to her forehead. “I’m cutting down. I find I love spending more time with you than all my people combined.”
Harmony giggled and raised her hands to circle the back of his neck.
“That’s always nice for a woman to hear.”
Christian bent and fused his lips against hers.
He groaned when she immediately opened for his tongue, giving him back every caress.
Every cell in his body warmed, and he felt the blood rush to his groin.
The primal need to mate with her soared.
He wanted to imprint himself on her flesh so she wouldn’t go an hour without thinking about him as he did her.
After a long moment, he lifted his head.
He knew if he didn’t stop, he’d have her on the bed.
“You are so beautiful,” he said as he bit back a moan and smoothed her hair away from her face.
“Thank you. I’m glad you think so.”
Christian grinned. “How about you go get ready, and I’ll take you out?”
Harmony smiled up at him. “I’d much rather you take me to bed, Daddy,” she murmured in a sultry tone.
Christian’s hunger spiked as he lifted her easily and walked through the house. Within a minute, the master bedroom door closed behind them. Christian laid her on the bed.
“I’m going to have to feed you eventually,” Christian surmised as he jerked off his suit jacket and tie.
Harmony smiled as her eyes roamed over the skin he was revealing.
“You can always make me a PB&J.”
Christian grimaced. He’d grown up on peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwiches and never thought he could stomach another one, but his woman craved them some days, so now there was the stuff in his cupboards and fridge.
“We’ll see. Right now, the last thing I want to think about is eating unless it’s you I get to taste.”
Harmony sat up and tugged off her shirt and bra.
“Only if I get my own treat.”
Christian’s eyes closed in what looked like torment.
“You know I won’t last if I have your mouth wrapped around my dick.”
“Maybe just a quick taste,” she promised as she shimmied out of her jeans and panties.
He gritted his teeth. He loved how sexually sensual she was, but he knew he would have to muster all his strength not to come as soon as her mouth was on him.
Maybe he could distract her enough to make her forget.
With that plan in mind, he dropped down on the bed beside her and started to drive her out of her mind.
Since she was already begging, he didn’t think it would take too long to make her come a few times before he tucked her under him.
He smiled as the first orgasm ripped through her. When she laid quiet and tried to slow her breathing, he moved down her body. First with his fingers and now with his mouth.
Harmony’s breath snagged in her lungs at the first touch of his tongue as it delved in between her sensitive lips. She tried pulling him up, but it was like moving a boulder.
“Christian … Daddy…” she begged.
He lifted his head. “Just one more time.”
Harmony’s eyes pinched closed as he pushed her rapidly toward another orgasm.
She wondered if there was going to be a night that no matter how many times they made love, their desire for each other couldn’t be quenched, and then every thought splintered.
Later that night, Harmony lay wrapped in Christian’s arms and listened to his deep breathing.
Their lives together couldn’t have been more perfect.
Harmony felt incredibly blessed to have Christian in her life.
But small things were starting to get to her.
The fact she was never left alone for any period of time.
She also felt like she had no privacy. She wanted just one room that was all hers.
That was one of the reasons she loved her apartment.
It was old and very small, but it was all hers.
Then she moved into what she considered a mansion, somewhere she never thought she’d live, and had nothing for herself.
She knew if she asked, Christian would give her any room in the house, but everything was still so new, she hadn’t wanted to ask for anything because he’d given so much to her already.
Harmony thought, with time, she’d settle in better and become more accustomed to her surroundings.
She had learned that she needed to have a purpose, also.
She hadn’t been happy with college, but if she couldn’t find something to take up her time, she’d think about going back.
In the meantime, she’d look for some volunteering or a part-time job to keep her busy.
She knew herself well enough to know she could very easily drive herself and Christian crazy if she had too much time on her hands. That’s the last thing she wanted to do.
