″That’s impossible. There’s no…” He trailed off and pulled away, his green eyes wide as he searched my face.

″You said the earth would always remember my vow to never be yours.”

He swallowed thickly.

This, I swear to you, I will never be yours.That was what I’d told him when I hadn’t understood the inevitability of what was between us.

“I take it back,” I said, my heart swelling with more emotion than I felt capable of holding. “I want to be yours. Forever.”

Tears spilled down his face. When I felt my heart open, something unfurled from its center, searching, searching until it found the connection it had been craving.
