“I love you too,” I whisper back.
“I love both of you.”
I laugh, the sound carrying across the water. “Dom, we love you, too.”
“You know,” he says when we pull apart. This was supposed to be a romantic evening. Dinner, champagne, maybe dancing under the stars.”
“Well, we’re under the stars now.”
“We are.”
“And I’m sure there’s food somewhere on this yacht.”
“There is.”
“And as for dancing…” I step closer, slipping my arms around his neck. “I think we can figure something out.”
Dom’s hands settle on my waist, and we begin to sway together, no music but the sound of water against the hull and the distant hum of the city.
“You know,” I say after a moment, “Uncle Enzo kind of ruined our first official date.”
“Oh, really?”
“Mm-hmm. Kidnapping the groom is generally frowned upon in most dating circles.”
“Good thing this wasn’t our first date then.”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean, our first date was that business trip. When we got snowed in and had to share a room.”
“That wasn’t a date. That was a business trip.”
“Was it? Because I remember thinking you were the most beautiful woman I’d ever seen. I remember wanting to kiss you from the moment you walked into that hotel lobby.”
“You did kiss me.”
“I did. And I’ve been wanting to do it again ever since.”
“Just kiss me?”
Dom’s eyes darken with heat. “Among other things.”
“What other things?”
Instead of answering, he lifts me into his arms, carrying me toward the yacht’s main cabin. “Let me show you.”
Dom carries me below deck to the master suite, setting me down gently beside the king-size bed. The room is beautiful - polished wood, soft lighting, windows that show the harbor lights sparkling on the water.
“Are you sure about this?” he asks, his hands gentle on my face. “With everything that’s happened tonight, with the baby…”
“Dom.” I reach up to touch his cheek. “I’ve never been more sure of anything in my life.”
“But earlier, when you fainted-”
“I fainted because I was stressed and scared and trying to carry the weight of the world on my shoulders. Right now, I’m exactly where I want to be.”
“Where’s that?”
