“I’m not trying to be flippant. I know you have a life there. I just don’t want you to go back, I guess. Actually, there’s no guessing about it. IknowI don’t. It’s selfish. I know that, too. It’s just—”

Jessica stunned me into silence by cupping my cheek and pressing her mouth to mine.

“Stop. I get it,” she murmured. Her lips brushed mine as she spoke. “I feel it, too. I’m confused, and I don’t know what to do.”

She huffed a single, humorless chuckle. “The life coach really needs a life coach.”

“I know what to do. At least, right now,” I murmured, pulling her to straddle me, so we were face to face. I stifled a groan at the feel of her heated center against me, and barely squelched the urge to pulled her even closer.

My hands slid up her back and into her hair while our foreheads tilted together. The pod gave us an intimate bubble that shrank to just the two of us, inches apart. I gazed into her eyes, her pupils shot wide with her arousal. Within our stare, I saw myriad possibilities, a future stretched out before us…ahead of us andforus.

My breath sucked in, my chest tight with need. Our lips met again, this time with unleashed hunger. I couldn’t hold back my groan as she wiggled closer, sliding against my dick. If we weren’t careful, things would quickly get hot and heavy. Even though this pod was private, it wasn’t the right place.

Our hands explored, and we kissed until I saw stars, probably from lack of breathing anything except each other. There was no way she didn’t feel my reaction to her and what she did to me. Jessica didn’t hold back her responses to the pleasure of our intimacy. It filled my soul. She was the one I’d waited a lifetime to find. She was the reason I’d never found a deep connection with anyone else. My heart had waited for her, I just hadn’t known it. I’d thought I’d been fine, normal, fulfilled. Now, I realized how empty I’d been.

“God,” she gasped, pressing her forehead to mine again while we fought to catch our breaths. My hands slid over her shoulders then along her arms before circling her waist again, keeping us chest to chest. I couldn’t get enough of the feel of her.

“Yeah, about like that,” I agreed.

“I think maybe…” She blew out a puff of air that wafted across my damp lips before she inhaled slowly. “I think…maybe…we should take dessert back your house before we stray into public indecency. Then…maybe…you can play something for me.”

“We probably should or I’m going to lay you back on this couch and finish what we’ve started. Caleb is a good friend, but…not that good. I don’t think he’d appreciate me using this as my love shack.

She giggled, but the hunger in her eyes made it clear she wouldn’t be opposed if things escalated to us getting naked together. Maybe back at my house, though?

“This is the perfect little place,” she said, her fingers trailing over my chest. I caught them before they strayed too far then brought them to my lips. Jessica leaned in and replaced our fingers with her mouth, kissing me again. “I could imaginespending time here for a longer romantic getaway. But you’re right. It’s a little too…”

She glanced toward the windows. It was snowing harder now, and the chances of anyone wandering past were slim at best, but not zero.

“A little too public,” I finished.

She nodded. “Plus, you promised to play for me tonight, and so far, I’ve only heard your student.”

“I’ve been working on something new.” I wouldn’t tell her just yet that the new composition was calledJessica. Last night, the notes had just flowed from me while my thoughts had been solidly on her. If that wasn’t some sort of sign, I wasn’t sure what was. I’d never had something practically write itself like that.

“For a movie?”

“Not yet, but it might be for a film later…if it fits the script.”

Suppressing a groan as we shifted, I helped her off my lap then quickly gathered the remains of our dinner to take home. I had no doubt Jessica knew exactly what she did to me. Her gaze drifted in that direction, and though she couldn’t see much, there was no missing the obvious ridge in my jeans. Her already pink cheeks flushed darker. Her breathing was a little jagged, matching mine, when she met my eyes again.

“You know, I coach people,” she said, in what seemed a random statement, “in life, business…and even love, but…somehow, I can’t begin to grasp what’s happening here. It’s not justlust. I mean, it’s… I know the mechanics, the mental part, the emotions…how it all works…” She paused.

“I know this doesn’t make sense,” she continued, “but for me, I have no ideahow it all works. How things work here with us in Majestic Falls. Everything with you is new. It’s like knowing everything there is to know about New York City then actually going there and realizing you know very little at all.”

“We’ll figure it out. Let’s just buckle in for the ride and see where it takes us. We can enjoy the journey, because we don’t have to get there today.” Shifting everything to one arm, I reached over to lace my fingers with hers. “Come on. Let’s go have an old-fashioned singalong. And I’ll play you that new melody I’m working on.”

She stepped closer, her body brushing mine as we walked.

“Maybe, we can kiss some more, too.” Her tone was full of desire, need, and I couldn’t stop myself from dragging her against me with my free arm. I brushed my lips over hers.

“Now, that’s a really great idea. And there’s a truly remarkable view of the sunset right from my couch. Maybe, we’ll see it.”

She rolled her eyes. “The sun has already set.”

“So, we can see the couch then.”

“Hmm.” Her grin widened. “Maybe. Guess we’ll see.”
