I continue, encouraged by his apparent lack of aggression. My stomach growls and a knot forms in my gut, reminding me that I haven’t eaten in a long, long time. “And food. I’m hungry.”

Yellow eyes go down my body, slow and appreciative. The look of an owner. I squirm, heat building up between my legs despite myself. It’s a betrayal of my own flesh, but I can’t help it.

Rakir’s stare goes down to my sex, which I try my best to hide from view, but I can’t manage it without exposing some other part of my anatomy. There’s no escaping my diminished state.

“Power.” He points up to the dead lighting on the ceiling then looks down back at me. I squirm some more, but this time, there’s no more heat between my legs. He knows I’m the one who sabotaged his ship.

I shouldn’t feel guilty for what I did, considering we’re from two warring species, but I do. I destroyed his ship and damaged his power supplies for good. There’s no going home for either of us.

It’s anyone’s guess why he hasn’t killed me.

Yet.

“No power, no food.” He shakes his head. “No clothes.”

Rakir waits just a second, then turns away. As he reaches the doorway, he pauses.

“Juliet stays. Rakir hunts.”

Then he’s gone and I’m all alone. Shackled and naked, waiting for my enemy to come back for me.
