They lay in Vahn’s vast sunken bath which was big enough to swim in, soapy water up to their necks. Correction, thought Kara languidly as Vahn ran a sponge over her back, our vast sunken bath. They had been living together for the past month and were enjoying a rare moment of peace and quiet.

Since her mother’s arrival there had been nothing but chaos and hectic activity. Wedding arrangements and peace negotiations had run side by side and Kara didn’t know which were the most stressful.

The Chennai Accords had progressed exceptionally well, mainly because both Vahn and her mother had laid down clear expectations which the other side was willing to stick to.

The war-rooms of both planets were now being used for robust discussions about future relations. A trade deal was already on the cards and there’d even been talk of a permanent Earth embassy.

It was incredible to Kara that two species who’d been battling for so long could actually be so accommodating of each other. But of course, a large part of that was down to the goodwill engendered by their unique cross-breed romance.

There wasn’t a soul on either planet who didn’t know their story by now. Mortal enemies stranded together, facing untold dangers, and falling in love.

“It has Hallmark all over it,” said Kara smugly.

“There are some who think our experience is fake,” commented Vahn as he began to stroke cleansing milk through her hair. She tilted her head back, enjoying the touch of his fingers on her scalp. The scent of fresh jasmine drifted into her nostrils and she sighed happily.

“Forget the haters. We know what happened.”

“Yes. I tried to kill you. I’m quite glad I failed.”

“ Quite glad?” She turned to him teasingly. “I’m quite glad you decided to fuck my brains out instead, snake-boy.”

He adopted an affronted expression.

“I thought the term ‘snake’ was a slur you never wanted to hear again?”

“From others, yes. But from me it’s a term of endearment.” She slid her hands down his chest and under the water. “And anyway, when I call you ‘snake-boy’ I’m not referring to your scales.”

He bit back a groan as her hand curled round his cock. She stroked it firmly and it swelled against her palm.

“You are a vixen,” he breathed, his eyes glinting. “I thought you were tired?”

“Never too tired for this.” She gave a wicked grin and ran her thumb over his sensitive tip. He opened his mouth to gasp and she covered it with her own, darting her tongue inside before nipping at his bottom lip.

He pulled her forcefully into his lap, sending a wave of water sluicing across the bathroom floor.

“Tormenting your Zhaal is a punishable offence, human,” he growled. “Your body is now forfeit.”

She wriggled away, slipping from his arms like an eel and presenting her back to him again.

“Not until you rinse my hair.”

Muttering under his breath, he obeyed her command, cupping his hands and scooping water over her tresses until they were clean. She could feel his rock-like erection pressing into her back and shivered with anticipation.

“Good boy,” she said mischievously. “Now let me do something for you.”

She moved round behind him and examined the dorsal spines that ran the length of his back from neck to sacrum. Soaping her hands, she stroked them over his shoulders and down the spines.

“That feels good,” he said.

When she reached the last spine, she slipped a finger beneath it and touched the little patch of raised scales she found there. He jumped.

“ Kalehsha , what are you doing?”

“You said having your balinzh gland stimulated is pleasurable,” she explained. “I want to do it for you.”

“There’s no need. I receive more than enough pleasure from you, beloved.”

She reached round with her other hand and took hold of his cock.

“Just enjoy the ride, snake-boy.”

She stroked her fingers over the gland, noting with satisfaction that even the smallest touch made him squirm. She circled it, then rubbed it, and he groaned loudly.

His shaft was now impossibly thick and hard. It strained upwards, the dendra along its ridged length pulsating rapidly. She slid her hand up and down until his hips started to jerk.

“ Drek’aa beresh do not stop,” he ground out. The spines on his back rose and she knew he was close.

“Come for me,” she whispered. “Come for me, snake-boy.”

The gland under her fingers suddenly softened. Vahn threw his head back and bellowed with the intensity of his release. Kara watched, wide-eyed, as hot, white fluid gushed over her hand and into the bath.

The Vraxian sagged, spent.

“That looked amazing,” she said, hugging him from behind. He turned to face her.

“ You are amazing.” He gathered her to him and kissed her soundly, then let his head fall back onto the edge of the bath in deep contentment. “Vannla’s Sword, there are no words to describe how I feel.”

“So that’s what it would be like if we were to make hatchlings?” she asked casually. He opened one eye.

“It would be better. Because you would feel the same pleasure, but for very much longer.”

“Something to think about.”

“And are you?” He sat up, eyes glinting. “Thinking about it?”

“Maybe. I think so.”

“What are you saying, kalehsha ?” He put a finger under her chin and tilted her face towards him. His gaze was intense and she swallowed, suddenly feeling shy.

“I’m saying that after we’re married – not straight away, not for a while – but at some point we can talk about having children. If you still want to, that is.”

He stared down at her silently for so long she thought she’d said the wrong thing. But when he kissed her, it was like nothing she’d felt from him before.

His lips were so tender, so loving, her heart swelled with emotion. He held her as if she were the most precious thing in the world. As if she meant more to him than life itself.

And when he finally let her go, he whispered the words he’d long ago written into her soul.

Until galaxies crumble and stars fade .
