Page 113 of Burden of Proof
“Just for you.”
“Thank God,” Finn said, then the call disconnected.
With a weary breath, I took my first drink of coffee.
I was worried about Finn. Like, really worried about him. It had been years since his last serious relationship and he’d buttoned himself up tight after that had gone south. He’d absolutely had casual flings since then, but the level of distress he’d shown over this couple was quickly approaching relationship levels. I worried he hadn’t been talking to anyone about what was going on, so of course he could come over. My brothers were always welcome in my apartment, even if Marshall was the brother who had the paternal instincts to accommodate us all.
Another drink of coffee and I headed for the bathroom, taking a quick shower and making sure there was no cum or lube left on my thighs by the time I finished. Cleaning the crack of my ass sent a shiver through me, a biting reminder of Lincoln’s face pressed between my cheeks, his fingers digging into my thighs, his cock spearing into me…the way he pulsed and thickened when he came. The thought of it was enough to chub me up, but I ignored my dick for the first time in weeks.
When I got out of the shower, Lincoln was awake but still in bed, stretched out like a cat and tangled in the sheets. I crawled over toward him and left a gentle kiss against the corner of his mouth.
“There is coffee,” I told him. “But my brother is on his way over.”
He chased after another kiss. “Which one?”
“Finn.”
“Do you want me to go?” he asked.
“I never want you to leave,” I said. “We still need to talk about some of the things we said last night.”
Lincoln twisted onto his back. “Is there time?”
I sat down and stroked a careful line from his shoulder to his elbow. “I meant everything I told you last night. I want you to move in here with me.”
“I have a lease,” he said.
“How long is left on it?”
“Four more months.”
I wanted to spend the rest of my life with this man. I could manage four more months if I had to.
“Ask if you can break it,” I said. “If there’s a penalty, I’ll pay it.”
“You don’t have to do that.”
“Daddy wants to,” I said, maybe a little sharper than I’d meant to. Lincoln’s eyes went wide at the statement, and his brows knit together in confusion. “I meant that too. Didn’t you?”
“Yes, but?—”
“No.” I shook my head, tutted my tongue against the roof of my mouth.
“Thank you,” Lincoln whispered, blinking hard.
I brushed his hair back from his forehead, kissed his temple. I wanted to kiss every inch of his skin every day until the end of time.
“Do you need time alone with your brother?” he asked next.
I breathed deep, thinking about the truth of the answer. There wasn’t anything I wanted to keep from Lincoln, but Finn might not feel the same way.
“What I need is for you to go to your apartment after you’ve had your coffee, and I need you to get your fish and bring him over here. I need you to get your sex toys and your clothes and the things that mean the most to you. I need those here before Andrew shows up for lunch.”
Lincoln scoffed. “Trying to show off?”
“You are worth showing off,” I told him, which earned me a flush on his cheeks. “But no, I just don’t want you to talk yourself out of it.”
He laughed at that, stretching his body out again with a sense of finality.
