“You are, without a shadow of a doubt, the most important person in my life. And I love our daughter, but I wouldn’t have anything in this life without you. I wouldn’t have Angel, or my sanity, or the beauty of this estate that now feels like home. I wouldn’t have half of the success, nor would I have the relationship I do with my mother, had it not been for your support and your constant pushing of me to be better and to do better. You are my life, Lily. You’re the love of it, the star of it, and the supporting cast of it, and I can’t go another day without knowing whether or not you want to be my wife.”

My jaw trembled. “Oh, Jax.”

“So,” he said as he took the ring out of the box and poised it just beyond my left ring finger, “Lily DeMarcus, Will you do me the absolute honor of becoming my wife?”

And the only thing I could do was lunge myself at him, sealing our deal with a searing kiss.

“Yes,” I murmured against his lips, “of course, I’ll marry you.”

Just hear me out.

The arrangement feels wrong but it’s for a good cause.

It will help him get his daughter’s custody.

Besides, I enjoy drooling over him.

Even though crushing on my billionaire boss could cost me my job.
