Todd

“ D r. King?” I called out as I walked down the hallway of the clinic. “Is it normal to go from looking slightly pregnant to there’s absolutely no denying a man’s pregnant within a week?”

Dr. King was smiling when I made it to the doorway of his office. “You have effectively popped , Todd. It is only going to get more uncomfortable from here on out.” Dr. King sat on the front of his desk. “How are you feeling overall? Any pains? Odd cravings? Do you need anything?”

I sighed. “I’m good.” I rubbed my side where one of our daughters was pushing against my ribs.

“They’re babies. And because there are two of them, shouldn’t they be tiny or something?

” I took a deep breath, and after a moment, my daughter finally relented on stretching, and the pain in my ribs, and probably my liver, subsided.

“You’re an omega and were born to carry babies. But you are also incredibly slender. More than many other omegas.”

I sighed. I knew it was in part because I’d spent several years basically being starved when I needed food the most, but it was also because I was on the slender side. I often bordered on too skinny , actually. “Is it going to cause issues with the pregnancy?” I asked. “Me being so skinny?”

Dr. King shook his head. “You’re healthy, the babies are healthy, and I don’t foresee you being slender as a complication.

You are gaining weight, you’re eating as you should, and there haven’t been any major issues.

Pregnancy sickness is quite common, and except in extreme cases, it’s not normally life-threatening to you or the baby. ”

“So I’m just destined to look incredibly pregnant?” I asked.

Dr. King smiled while nodding his head. “Yes. Even if you were carrying a single baby, you would look incredibly pregnant. The fact that you are carrying two, and they are around seven pounds combined already, means you look as if you are ready to pop.”

I rubbed my stomach again. I felt ready to pop at times too. Just last weekend, I could still somewhat hide my pregnancy. Now, there was absolutely no way I could. I looked pregnant because I was. “How big am I going to get?” I asked but not really expecting an answer.

“That depends on how large the babies are. You’re carrying girls, and they tend to be smaller. You’re also carrying cheetahs, who are also smaller than, say, wolves or bears. Also factor in that you yourself are slender, you’re going to show more. It’s just how physics works.”

I groaned as I looked up at the ceiling.

“Fine.” I rubbed my stomach once again when one of the babies decided to push out on the other side.

I didn’t know if it was the same baby or her twin, but they were definitely doing yoga stretches in there this afternoon.

“I’m going to go check on your next appointment,” I said.

Dr. King stopped me. “You don’t have to because my last appointment was before lunch. There are only a few pregnancies at the moment, and you are one of them.”

I nodded as I left the office. That would explain why the clinic had been so quiet. If there were only a few of us pregnant, then Dr. King wasn’t going to be that busy.

I had just sat down at the desk when I felt Briggs through our bond. “How are you feeling?” he asked.

I pushed on my side, then felt the same pressure on the other. They were tag-teaming me now. “Fine, but your daughters are doing yoga. They are stretching so much I think they’re trying to push out on both sides.” I sighed in relief when they finally relented.

“I’m sorry you’re becoming uncomfortable more often.”

My mate was absolutely amazing. He was the sweetest, was always looking out for me and now John.

Although John had only been with us for less than a week, Briggs had been amazing.

They had gone for a quick after-supper run three nights this week already.

My brother was absolutely eating it up, and although Briggs wasn’t his father, he was an amazing father-type figure for him.

It gave me a glimpse into what type of daddy he was going to be to our children, and I couldn’t have asked for a better life partner.

“Do you need anything?”

I smiled, although my mate couldn’t see it. “No. We have no more appointments for the day. Dr. King said there are only a few pregnancies at the moment, but we all know that can change in a blink. There were several not that long ago.”

I heard chuckling through our bond. “What would you like for supper? It’s probably going to snow a bit this weekend if the forecast is to be believed.”

That was something that Briggs and John would have to enjoy without me.

Well, at least without me in my shifted form.

I thought about the question and realized that I honestly didn’t have anything that was jumping out at me.

“Whatever you and John want. I’m not hungry at the moment, and nothing is really hitting me as being needed to be consumed. ”

There was more laughter. “Very well. I’m about to leave for the day. Did you want me to stop by and pick you up? Or are you still there for a few more hours?”

I gasped. “Dr. King!” I called out as I got up from my chair. I was hurrying down the hallway when my boss came rushing out of his office with a look of panic on his face.

“What’s wrong? Did something happen?” he asked, his hand glowing green as he reached for me.

“What? No,” I told him. “Sorry. I just got excited,” I said. “Briggs is finished for the day and asked if I wanted him to stop by and pick me up on his way home. Is that all right?” I asked.

Dr. King’s hand stopped glowing, and he gave me a nod. “Yes. Perfectly. And the babies are doing well. They’re sleeping though, so the walk home might help give you some more relief from them pushing out, trying to move around.”

I smiled at my boss. “Thanks so much,” I told him. “I’ll be back Monday morning, bright and early.”

Dr. King grinned. “Have a good weekend.”

I did a little shimmy—well, more like an awkward wobble that would normally be a shimmy if I wasn’t pregnant, but I was, and there was nothing graceful about me anymore.

“When will you be here?” I asked Briggs.

I heard him chuckle. “We’re walking out now, so give me a minute at the most.”

I couldn’t stop grinning while I quickly cleaned up the desk area.

I had a step-by-step instruction that was laminated and stuck to the little area by the monitor that told me what steps I needed to take to shut down my computer.

It was immensely helpful, in that Dr. King had made it with magic, and it had not only the steps but little pictures. The pictures helped more than anything.

I had my computer shut down and was getting up and ready to go when the door chimed.

I looked up, expecting to see Briggs, and there he was.

I made a noise that I probably shouldn’t have been able to make, but it brought an eye-twinkling smile to my mate’s face as I hurried across the room toward him.

“I’m glad you’re in such a good mood. How are you feeling?” Briggs asked before he leaned down and kissed me.

“Not terrible,” I responded once the kiss ended. I wanted to deepen it in the worst way, but I held off because we were at the clinic. “I’m ready to go home though.”

“Good. We have a few hours before John will be home, and I thought?—”

I tugged on Briggs’s hand, pulling him back toward the door. “Yes. Absolutely. That’s what I was thinking too,” I said. When we were finally outside and alone, I stopped and looked up at my mate. “You were talking about getting naked, right?” I asked, just to make sure.

Briggs smiled at me. “Yes.” Briggs gave me a look that had me excited. “I’m still all for keeping things in the bedroom, but yes, I was definitely talking about getting naked with you. And then needing a shower after.”

I couldn’t help but be excited. It was great having John living with us, but the fact that John lived with us meant we had to keep sexy times to the bedroom, and at night.

No more morning sex because we’d quickly discovered that my brother didn’t sleep in.

Nor did he go to bed early. I was certainly going to bring that up with Dr. Brauer, but right now, I really wanted to just get home and get my mate’s knot inside me as quickly as possible.

I was a pregnant man who was horny, and it sucked having to be careful and quiet when it came to sexy times.

Briggs chuckled as he let me pull him along with me as we left what had been dubbed “Council Square.” It only took a moment for him to move up beside me, and as we hurried toward our house, I noticed many changes to the scenery.

There weren’t too many trees that weren’t evergreens, but there were a few here and there, and they had all turned shades of fall colors.

“Hey, Briggs!”

I groaned as my mate’s name was called out. I did not want to stop and talk to anyone. I wanted to be selfish and get home and get myself some of his amazing sexiness.

“Give me just a few minutes,” Briggs said. I looked up at him and whimpered. “Promise,” he told me.

I nodded, and Briggs hurried back to talk to someone who I was certain was another enforcer. I wasn’t going to throw a fit about it, but it was certainly frustrating that just as we were about to make our “escape,” he was called back to have a conversation.
