Page 33 of Break the Ice
“Is that… is that cum?” I ask, expecting no one to answer.
“Good eye, Sugar. Nothing gets past you.”
I scream and jump back. “What are you—GET OUT!”
Sitting in the accent chair in the far corner of the room is none other than Rafe Golding. He sits as though he’s in his hotel suite, his posture relaxed, his arm swathed over the back of the chair and his right ankle resting over his left knee. His perfect symmetrical features arrange into a cocky grin, his amber eyes practically glowing.
He’s so damn pleased with himself.
I clutch my towel to my body, hyperaware of the way my heart feels like it’s about to bust out of my chest and that I’m very naked under this towel. It’s that unexpected that he’s here… sitting in my hotel room like nothing.
“Evening, Sugar,” he greets. His tone casual, his speech unhurried. “I’ve been waiting for you. You take long showers.”
“Are you crazy? What do you think you’re doing?!”
“We had a date tonight.”
“I never agreed to any date!”
“I sent the car for you,” he says, running fingers through his unruly chocolate hair. “You went with the car Blackman sent you.”
Suddenly, he’s scowling. He’s no longer looking pleased with himself as he complains. I can only stare at him like I’ve never seen him before. He’s no longer just a nuisance who’s made my life miserable these past couple weeks, he’s crazy and unpredictable.
…he’s left my shirt stained with cum.
His cum.
“This was you?” I ask, gesturing to the shirt. “You left spunk on my shirt?!”
“Some fan girls would pay thousands for that.”
“You pervert!” I yell. “Get out before I call hotel security!”
“Why did you meet Blackman tonight? Did you think he’d be able to help you out of your situation?” he asks. “Since he owns the hotel, he’d, what? Do your dirty work for you?”
“It’s none of your business why I?—”
“I’m the one who cleaned up your mess. How soon you forget, Sugar. But it’s okay… because new rules.”
“There are no rules! I’m not playing your fucked up game, Golding!”
“Sure you are. If you expect me to keep quiet, you’ll play. Something tells me you’ll even… enjoy yourself.” He makes standing up from an accent chair sexy. His tall, lean frame rises to his full height. His cotton t-shirt clings to his torso just right. His muscles are taut and bulging, any protruding veins distracting. The light captures the masculine dimensions of his face and makes his amber-colored eyes feel like piercing stones that bore into me.
I stay still as he starts toward me, pinned where I am by his hypnotizing stare.
My insides have frozen. Except for the cool shiver that runs up my spine.
I let him overtake me as he invades my space and lifts a large hand to my face. His rough palm slides along my soft, upswept cheek, and he peers at me like he’s about to devour me for dinner. The sexual tension is so thick you can almost see it.
You can definitely feel it in the air.
I finally swallow after several failed attempts. “Golding…” I sputter out. “What are you doing?”
“I want more than a night, Sugar,” he tells me. “You owe me much more than that now. Since you’ve chosen to disobey me and turn down my offer, the price just went up.”
“It doesn’t matter. I’ll never play along.”
His grin slants, now crooked. “You really think you have me fooled? I can practically feel how hot you are. The little hesitant shake in your voice. Your dilated pupils. It makes you so wet thinking about all the things I’ll do… doesn’t it?”
