I look back at her, the sun is hitting the back of her hair just perfectly, and there’s a light breeze blowing by, moving her dress for her and making it look like she’s swaying to the music.
I reach up and cup her face, my thumb brushing over her cheekbone. “Everything is perfect.”
The music goes up a notch, and I watch in amusement as CT is forced to dance his way into the party, with Dani happily dancing next to him. I hold Thea under my arm, and we laugh at the joyous energy they both exude.
CT has definitely been more himself in the last year since they reunited, but the CT I see today is the Cade I grew up with.
Worry-free, happy, grateful to be alive.
The bar is set up, and I realize it’s the local MC with their brewery. Of course, they send some of their girls to do the serving, but I do see Mick, one of the higher officers of the club, helping behind the scenes.
I make a mental note to chat with him about our little bar visitor when things calm down.
But for now, I take Thea to the makeshift dance floor, pull her into my arms, and dance with her until the sun starts to set, and hope that this event is just the start of our life together.

My feet are killing me.
We spent the whole day running around the ranch, making sure we were helpful with all the events that needed to happen, but when we weren’t doing that, Logan had me out on the dance floor.
That boy can dance.
When it was time for the father-daughter dance, I watched Dani dance with Earl, her father, and then a little more than halfway through, he relinquished her to Cal and let him finish the dance. It was sweet.
But the sweetest part was when all the other fathers and daughters joined them, and I got to watch Logan take his reluctant and maybe slightly embarrassed fourteen-year-old out to the floor and dance. He twirled her around and made her laugh more times than I can count, and I sat there watching, feeling like I had hearts falling out of my eyes as I watched them.
My sisters stood beside me and watched with me. If I didn’t already know that they were on board with my being with Logan, watching him be such a wonderful dad surely sealed the deal.
The sun has long since set, and we were on the back porch of the Trevors’ family home. Logan was off chatting with his brothers and Graham, plus some other guys I didn’t know, and I sat listening to some of the women talk.
My sisters left a few hours ago to open the bar for the night, and the bride and groom snuck off as soon as they could get away with it.
I was feeling ready to leave, but I didn’t want to make Logan leave his family too soon since he was driving me.
Lue runs up to him and talks excitedly for a few minutes, and I see him ask Graham a question, who nods with a smile.
Lue jumps up and down and darts down the stairs before quickly stopping and running back up, hugging her dad around the waist.
Then, to my surprise, she rushes over to me and wraps her arms around my neck, squeezing tight. I hug her back.
“See you tomorrow, Thea!”
I laugh and repeat it back, even though I’m not sure I will.
I watch her run over to Graham’s daughter, Alex, and they run off, giggling as they go. Even with a slight age gap between the girls, they seemed to get along great.
My eyes catch Logan’s, and I can see him contemplating something.
Not too much later, Logan asks if I’m ready, and we start to say our goodbyes. He opens the door to his truck for me, and I climb in, letting out a nervous sigh as he rounds the front and gets in.
Something is brewing between us. The tension is so taut that I’m afraid to move lest I suddenly shatter it.
Smiling at me, he hesitates for a minute before he looks over at me. “Lue is staying at Graham’s tonight.”
I smile. “I gathered that.”
