What happened next?

Thankfully, Elizabeth, Frank, and Mackenzie were safe and sound in the safe room. Sophie and Grace were able to make it there, too, and explained what was happening. I had to explain to them all that Anna was the reason the jewels existed, she was the mastermind who came up with the concept to impress Damon, who was the head of the Bratva’s son, and her lover. Mackenzie was horrified to find out who Damon really was. Then I explained how Sergei saved my life when he shot Anna. I can see the devastation in his eyes, knowing that he killed his own daughter to save me. He confessed later that he always knew Anna wasn’t his, but he still loved her as his own. That he understood no matter how much love he had for her, it was never going to save her hunger for power. Elizabeth and Frank said they would help him try to rebuild himself after such a devastating loss.

Max, Sergei, and I were all rushed to hospital, and luckily, Tomas’ cousin is on the police force and was able to conduct the investigation because trying to explain away broken bones and bullet wounds is hard.

While we were in hospital, Tomas organized for us all to move into a new rental home. The reminder of Dmitri’s dead body in the middle of the living room is a ghost none of us want to deal with. I think the plan is to knock down the home and rebuild, the boys do not want to bring their baby into the world with all that evil energy in the home. Luckily, Frank and Elizabeth’s home was completed, and we have all moved into there temporarily. I know Tomas and Mateo would like to have something more permanent organized before the baby comes, but Elizabeth is giddy with the thought of having her first grandchild under her roof.

Max and Grace have moved onto their yacht for the foreseeable future, and Sergei chose to move onto his own boat.

While things changed the moment Brooks found Sophie in the safe room, he chose that moment to tell her he loved her and that the thought he had lost her was too much for him. Luckily, she felt the same and told him so. They’ve decided that they are going to rent somewhere in Ibiza by themselves now that they are officially together while deciding to build their own home on the Clark compound.

Thankfully, the girls we rescued from Mexico were housed next door at Frank and Elizabeth’s place but in a separate compound, something Anna didn’t know about or didn’t pay much attention to. They were all safe, well, and unharmed from these latest events. We explained to them that the people who stole them are now all dead, they were relieved. We started the hard task of trying to assimilate them back into civilian life and help them find their loved ones again.

We had a surprise visit the next day after the attack, two handlers were sent to Ibiza from Washington to interview us because there were a couple of rogue, dead agents and an entire cartel blown up, so they had questions. We told them everything we knew. They told us that they never sanctioned the bomb onthe Dominguez cartel, that seems to be something Anna and Damon orchestrated between themselves. They also arranged for the bodies of Anna, Damon, and Dmitri to be deposited somewhere else, far away from where we are located, and staged the scene to look like Damon murdered Dmitri and Anna in a lovers dispute gone wrong, so it wouldn’t start a war between us and the Bratva.

I was also told that due to my being compromised in so many ways, I’ve been discharged from the agency.

I’m free.

Never thought I would ever be free again.

I can start a new life now.

What does that mean for Nash and me?

I may have forgotten to mention to the agency about that red Birkin filled with diamonds. Oh, don’t you worry. I made sure to reacquaint myself with it in Anna’s room. I think it was the least Anna could do for us all. I told the family about it, they were shocked. But we had to see if they were real or not. Tomas was able to find a jeweler and we sold the jewels. Anna was right, it was twenty million dollars’ worth.

What the hell do you do with that amount of money?

A family meeting was called, and the family agreed that the money should be used toward finding and saving the rest of the jewels and as many other trafficked women that could be found and saved. That amount of money is going to do good in the world.

And what about Nash and me?

I surprised him with a block of land that I purchased, and house plans. I may have neglected to mention to him that I was rich. That I had made a lot of money from honey trapping, that the Bratva paid me well, and I had invested it wisely never knowing what was going to happen to me. I used to be ashamedof the money, but knowing now that I can use it to build a future with the man I love gives me closure to that chapter of my life.

Ibiza is home now.

I’m devoting my life to saving every single trafficked woman I can, and Nash is right there beside me, my greatest supporter.

And what about Mackenzie?

As much as she loved being around her family, she felt like the odd person out amongst the sea of happy couples. Mackenzie was lost after the attack on the compound, the happy, vibrant, funny woman was turning into a shadow of her former self. Yes, she loved helping these women, but no one was able to help her. I couldn’t see my sister and best friend flounder anymore.

I called a sistervention.

We all agreed that being on the island was killing the spark that was in Mackenzie. She deserved a break from this life, a life she never planned for and was dragged into. Mackenzie said she would never change a thing because she came home to help save her sisters and then everything else that came after it. We suggested that she deserved a holiday, and surprisingly, Mackenzie agreed, she said she wanted to go back to being a normal thirty-year-old. She doesn’t need any more excitement in her life for a while.

And I get it. We all get it.

It was bittersweet saying goodbye to Mackenzie, I didn’t realize how tight our bond was until I didn’t have her there anymore. But thankfully, we were still connected by phone and have been able to stay connected to each other every single day.

Everyone deserves a chance to find what they are looking for.

Never in my life did I think I could ever be this happy or this free. I’m lucky I have Nash. This man is healing every part of me that was broken by my past, slowly stitching me back together again as I am him.

Who knows what the future holds, but for the first time in my life, I am happy to see what it becomes.
