SIX WEEKS LATER

Logan stirred before he was actually fully awake, warmth pressing in on him at all sides.

He stretched, sighing as he felt the solid weight of Marco behind him, Mateo sprawled lazily at his front.

Marco’s arm was slung around his waist, his face tucked against the back of Logan’s neck, while Mateo’s fingers traced idle circles around Logan’s hipbone.

He didn’t need to open his eyes to know the sun was beginning to set. Winter had fully settled into Boston, making days so short that Logan could hardly stay up the entire night anymore. God, it probably wasn’t even five in the evening yet.

Logan had only been immortal for about eight weeks, but he didn’t think he would miss seeing the sun for a long time yet.

He barely saw daylight before he was turned, and in these last eight weeks, not much has changed.

He knew on some level he’d miss it eventually, but what use was it to dwell on those things in advance?

A sleepy groan rumbled against the back of Logan’s neck. “You’re thinking too loud,” Marco murmured. “Go back to sleep.”

Logan cracked an eye open. “I can’t. Alexei asked me to help August buy Christmas decorations.”

Mateo made a sound somewhere between a snort and a groan. “And you said yes? Why would you waste a day off at the mall when you’ve got two perfectly good mates at home who need attention, tesoro? ”

Logan huffed a laugh, stretching his arms above his head, fully aware of how both twins subtly tightened their hold on him.

“Of course I said yes, Teo. August barely speaks English, and they didn’t have credit cards before he was turned.

He has no idea how to navigate an American mall during the busiest time of year! ”

And, in all honesty, Logan liked to hang out with August. He was nice, and whenever he spoke English, he sounded a bit like a Jane Austen character.

He also, apparently, was a fantastic artist before he went feral.

Logan had put an art supply store on their itinerary without telling Alexei, because August wanted to surprise him with a painting for Christmas.

The first painting he was going to attempt in over a hundred years.

Marco hummed against the back of Logan’s neck, lips brushing against his skin in a way that made Logan shiver. “Why do you have to go? Why not Alexei?”

Logan rolled his eyes. “August is my friend. I don’t have many of those.” That was a lie. Logan just wasn’t used to having so many people he could depend on. Marco and Mateo and Alexei and August and Vik…

He still hadn’t heard from Vik. Not really, anyway.

Vik had texted a day after the whole feral drama, saying he had a bit of an emergency and that Logan was in charge of the bar until he could return.

Periodically, Logan would get ‘I’m alive’ texts, but they hadn’t seen or spoken to each other since Vik disappeared.

Sometimes Logan worried, but the texts all sounded very Vik, so he was pretty sure he wasn’t kidnapped.

Mateo sighed dramatically, draping an arm over his face like this was the greatest injustice. “Fine. But when you come home to your two mates dead from lack of attention, do not attend our funerals saying you tried your best to keep us satisfied.”

Logan smirked, shifting in Marco’s hold just enough to glance at Mateo. “You’ll be fine. We won’t be out too late, and I promise I’ll make it up to you when we get home.”

Mateo peaked at him from under his arm, eyes sparkling with renewed mischief. “ Or, you could make it up to us now.”

Logan narrowed his eyes. “Or you could be patient.”

Mateo scoffed, nudging Logan’s hip with his knee. “Didn’t you tear the living room apart yesterday because you didn’t want to wait three more weeks for your Christmas present? Or was that a different tiny roscio ? ? ”

Logan rolled his eyes. “It’s not my fault Marco kept dropping hints about how perfect and amazing my gift was.”

Marco chuckled, pressing a kiss to the back of Logan’s neck. “And it’s not our fault that you’re half naked in our bed, is it amore mio? It appears the teasing goes both ways.” He pressed his hips into Logan’s ass, just as Mateo scooted closer, caging Logan between them.

Logan sucked in a sharp breath, his fingers curling into fists as he tried desperately to call on all the willpower he had left. “I promised August we’d meet in an hour…”

Mateo smirked, nosing at Logan’s jaw. “Then it sounds like you have at least thirty minutes before you have to leave.”

Logan groaned, tilting his head back into Marco’s shoulder. “But I have to pick out something to wear, and?—”

“You wear the same hoodie every day,” Mateo pointed out. “Give us five minutes to make you feel good before you have to get up, tesoro. ”

Marco hummed in agreement, dragging his lips against Logan’s skin.

Mateo grinned, his fingers ghosting from Logan’s hip to his mid-thigh. “We’ll make it worth your while.”

Logan exhaled sharply as Mateo’s fingers began toying with the hem on the leg of his boxers, just as Marco slipped his own fingers under the waistband. Fuck, what were his plans again? Did it even matter?

“F-fine. Five minutes,” He half stated, half moaned, just as Marco’s fingers wrapped around Logan’s cock.

“Look how worked up you already are,” Mateo purred. “I doubt it’ll take that long.”

Logan opened his mouth to reply ‘ I hate you’ but Mateo silenced him with a heated kiss, and any thoughts of August or Christmas shopping flew out the window.

Logan was late.

Very, very late.

By the time he had finally managed to extract himself from the tangle of limbs and actually get out of bed, he was pushing over half an hour behind schedule.

Mateo stretched, smug as ever, as Logan frantically pulled on his jeans. “Tell August we send our deepest regrets for making you late.”

Marco, fully unbothered, leaned lazily against the bedroom door frame, watching Logan fumble with the zipper and reach for his coat at the same time.

“Or don’t. Those marks won’t heal for a while.

He’ll probably know.” He reached out, sliding his fingertips over the multiple splotchy red marks lining Logan’s neck.

Logan’s vampire healing never seemed to kick in properly when it came to marks made by Marco and Mateo.

He might have the physical representation of his lateness all night, which was incredibly fucking embarrassing.

“I hate both of you,” Logan groaned, shoving his Docs on his feet. To his credit, Marco knelt down to help tie the laces.

Mateo, however, just grinned at him from his spot on the bed, utterly unrepentant. “Just wait until you get home later.”

Marco stood, planting a quick kiss to Logan’s lips before cupping his face gently. “Be safe, okay? Text us if anything out of the ordinary happens.”

Finally Mateo stood, striding over to Logan, kissing him much more heatedly than Marco had. “Or if you want something out of the ordinary to happen. Or if you just want to talk.” He rubbed a thumb over Logan’s cheek. “Because we’ll miss you, and we want to hear from you.”

“It’s just a couple of hours…” Logan mumbled, blushing furiously. He still hadn’t quite gotten used to being someone who was missed.

“Hours feel like days when you’re not around,” Mateo sighed, only a little over-dramatically. “But we’ll cope.”

“I love you,” Logan said, looking back and forth between the two of them. “Both of you.”

“We love you too. Go have fun with your friend.” Marco pressed one last kiss to Logan’s cheek before they both walked him down the stairs and to the door.

It was freezing outside, the sharp Boston air biting at his skin, but nowadays Logan barely felt the chill. Maybe a bit from the vampirism, but his body still felt warm from tangled limbs and teasing hands and whispered promises of later .

He was late, and doomed to teasing from Alexei the second he got to his and August’s home for sure. But as Logan ducked into the Uber, he found himself not able to mind too much.

Because for the first time in his life, his old one or his new one, he was exactly where he was meant to be.
