“I don’t know, wouldn’t have left if I could. Someone had to make sure you were taking care of yourself.”

Grabbing his hand, I pull him out of the room and head downstairs. Everything feels surreal.

“I’m not a glorified houseplant.” I pout, and he chuckles.

The living room is as I left it, and a tug at my hand makes me look around.

Archer kneels so pretty at my feet. Thankfully, I’m not a naked ghost, but I wouldn’t even mind. He wraps his arms around my legs and brings me closer.

I melt under his touch, and as much as I could step into the domme role he needs, everything is overwhelming.

Sinking to the floor, I nestle into his embrace. His strong arms keep me centered, and I pull back to kiss his chin.

Letting go of me with one hand, he runs his fingers over my jaw and tilts my head toward him.

Archer’s lips meet mine, and as tender as they are, I force him to kiss me harder.

I break the kiss and rest on my heels.

“Did you have fun haunting me? The floor water was a choice, along with moving things around to scare me. Tonight, were you inside that guy?”

A wide grin spreads across his face. “Took a couple tries, but yeah. How’d you figure out it was me? Once you said my name, I was pushed out and stuck downstairs until I guess you died.”

Caressing his face, I kiss him quickly. “No one worships me like you do, and the hair tie.”

“Buddy was a fucking idiot. It was a hot night with Mason, though. Thanks for putting on the eyes for me. I wouldn’t have been able to see otherwise.” He rolls his eyes and smirks.

Grabbing his chin, I arch up to stare into his eyes. “It made me laugh, and since you meanly left me, what else did I have? Why didn’t you go to the bright light or something?”

Archer’s face softens, and he grips my hand before kissing my palm. “Because you’re my bright light.”

“Did you have the option?” I let go of him, but let him continue to hold my wrists.

“No, the only thing I can think of is we belong together. It didn’t always make sense, but sometimes your person doesn’t, eh?”

I love him so deeply, even if he’s annoying and makes me facepalm myself more than average.

Squeezing his hand, I get up from our spot, and he follows suit. “Did you fuck with my work? What about the audiobook in thegrocery store?”

His laughter fills the air, and he bites his lip. “I’m sorry I wasn’t able to witness that one. Was it as epic as I thought it would be?”

I rip my hand from his and swat his shoulder. “I scarred old people,” I hiss.

“Likely gave them the best night of their lives.”

Scrunching my face, I go to say something, but the house shudders and a bright light appears in the corner of the room. I stare at it before glancing at Archer, and black spots dance in my vision.

“Heaven or hell?”

He stands and pulls me, holding my hand tighter. “Doesn’t matter. I’m with you.”
