She backs away from the counter as tears well in her eyes and it freezes me to the spot.

“Let me explain!”

“Did you fuck me to get back at my father? Did youuseme, Blaze?”

She lets out a sob and I fracture into a million pieces.

“Fuck! I’m so fucking stupid!”

She lets out a self-deprecating laugh and I fucking hate it. She tries to walk away, and I don’t know where she would go but the thought of her leaving spurs me into action. I’m in front of her in a few long strides, blocking her way.

“Let me explain, baby, please!”

She shakes her head, the tears spilling over and rolling down her cheeks as she backs away. I follow her until her back is against the wall. I place my hands on either side of her head, caging her in. Not seeing any other option to get her to listen to me.

“Let me go, Blaze.Please.” She begs.

“It’s not what you think.”

It’s exactly what she thinks, you prick.

“Don’t lie to me, don’t Blaze! Everyone always fucking lies!”

“I’m not lying, I swear!”

I am.

“I didn’t fuck you to get back at your father.”

I was going to.

“I didn’t use you.”

But I would have.

I place my fingers under her jaw and make her look at me, I let her tear-stained cheeks and watery eyes shred me to pieces. It’s the least I can do when I’m the one who put them there. I hate myself more than she could ever hate me.

“Don’t cry, baby. I can’t stand seeing you cry, knowing that I made you upset. I promise you this wasn’t part of my plan.”

Well, not anymore.

I feel sick, my pancakes rolling in my stomach as the twisted truth passes my lips. I’m a fucking liar to my core, no better than that piece of shit father of hers, but I can’t confess now. I refuse to lose her again when I only just got her back. Time seems to crawl to a stop before she responds.

“Okay,” she sniffs, “Okay, I believe you.”

She uses the sleeves of the hoodie she is wearing to dry the tears from her face. I pull her into me and hold her against my chest. I’ve never despised myself more than I do at this moment.

“You can stay with me, love. Spend the whole day with me, I won’t leave you alone.”

“I want to see. I want to know everything you plan to do and how I can help. I want to burn his fuckingempire to the ground and stand in the ashes.”

I grin at the venom in her voice. I shouldn’t be turned on right now but she’s so fucking sexy when she is mad, and I’ll do anything to give her what she wants. I’d stab myself in the heart if she demanded it.
