Page 95 of Beyond the Storm
Baxter:A maid outfit, perhaps? Did you wear it while giving him a private dance?
Daman:I finished my coffee. [stands up] I’m going to find my mate. If you value your head, you won’t call on me again.
Baxter:I like ’em feisty. [speaks louder as he walks away] Thatwasflirting, by the way! In case you didn’t know.
Interview Notes:Went better than expected. I thought he’d glare at me the entire time in silence, but he actually answered questions in depth. Makes me wonder if there’s a soft heart beneath that scowl. Coffee probably helped. He didn’t answer the maid question, so I’ll assume that was ayes.On to the next brother.
Gray:
Sloth Tells All
Baxter:Finally someone cute to chat with.
Gray:[rubbing his eyes] I just woke up from my midmorning nap. I want waffles.
Baxter:Is that your favorite food?
Gray:Yep. Waffles with lots of syrup. Sometimes I like to add peanut butter on top too.
Baxter:That’s… a lot of sugar.
Gray:Sugar makes me happy. [settles more into the oversized chair and slowly kicks his feet]
Baxter:Do you know why you’re here?
Gray:Do any of us know why we’re here? The world is a big place, and we’re just players. Or something like that. All we can do is live each day as it comes.
Baxter:How insightful. But you’re here because I’m interviewing you and your brothers.
Gray:Why?
Baxter:Well, now that the war’s over, a Q&A can give a good sense of closure.
Gray:Closure to what?
Baxter:Your adventures. All the pain, loss, drama, and sacrifices that were made. The good times and the bad. So many people have been touched by your story. Many submitted questions for this interview.
Gray:[continues kicking feet] What do I get if I do this?
Baxter:Recognition?
Gray:Nuh-uh. I want another dick-o-saurus. There’s a new one I saw online that’s wearing a Christmas hat and little boots. I’ve already named him. Dino-Nick. I need him for my collection.
Baxter:Consider it done.
Gray:It was nice doin’ business with you.
Baxter:You’re like a pint-sized mastermind, aren’t you? [sifts through notes] You mentioned your love of dick-o-saurus figures. How many do you have now?
Gray:Bunches. Like, a whole army of them. I’ve placed them all over Clara’s house. In her cabinets, in the garden, and I even put a tiny one under her pillow.
Baxter:I bet she loves that. So you and Mason are still living with her at Ravenwood Mansion?
Gray:Yep. We’re building our own house. Mason loves the farmhouse-style, and whatever he loves makes me happy. So we’ve been workin’ on designing it.
Baxter:Will you build it in Echo Bay?
Gray:[nods] It rains a lot, but I kinda love it despite that. It’s home.
