Page 59 of Belonging to Them
He chuckles and opens the slider so I can step inside.“After you, dear princess.”
The lights in the living room are off—the space is lit only with a few candles.Sebastian’s guitar rests off to the side, and Kingston stands in the middle of the room where the coffee table usually sits. Now, the coffee table is pushed next to the television against the wall.
“What’s all this?”I ask, as Sebastian leads me over to Kingston. He lets me go and picks up his guitar.
“Will you dance with me, little girl?”Kingston asks. He’s wearing jeans and a t-shirt—I see him in casual clothes all the time, but the way he’s talking to me right now reminds me of when he’d been in a tux at the Tyler Gala.
“Sure,” I say, holding back a nervous giggle.“This is so romantic. How are we supposed to leave this place when it’s so perfect?”
“Perfect is wherever you are,” Kingston says, kissing my nose.
Sebastian strums a few chords, makes a couple of adjustment to the pegs to tune the guitar, and then begins to play. The music is soft like the candlelight, romantic like the quiet ocean.Kingston sways with me, his arms solid around me, his spicy, manly scent filling my nose. It’s incredible how safe and loved I feel with these two men.
Then Sebastian begins to sing.
I don’t knowwho
I was before I met you
I don’t know what
I’d do if you weren’t by my side
I don’t know how
To navigate my days without you
I don’t know why
You agreed to be mine
I don’t know when
I fell in love with you
But I’d do it all over again
And again
I’d do it all over again.
Tears spring to my eyes,as I look into Kingston’s face, and then over at Sebastian as he plays the final chords. His gaze is on me, not on his guitar.
“It’s a beautiful song,” I say.“What are you calling it?”
“Ella’s Lullaby.”
Happy chills spread over my arms.“You wrote that song…for me?”
“Yes, princess.Kingston helped, too.”
“Well, I didn’t do much,” Kingston says, leading me to where Sebastian is sitting.“I was more of a sounding board.”
“Is that what you two were doing while I was looking for shells this morning?”
“And yesterday morning, too,” Bash says.
They planned this, and it makes it even more meaningful.“I adore the song. The lyrics, the music, the dancing—it’s all perfect. Can I hear it again?”
