Hot cum floods me, the warmth feeding the fire coursing through my body, sparking more flames.
He pauses to hold me and rest his forehead against mine, our sweat mingling, our ragged breaths tangled.
He lifts his head and finds my gaze again.
I stare up at him wondering what he’s going to say to me.
We just had wild sex up against the wall and in his bed.
I wasn’t supposed to sleep with my husband. Especially not tonight. Our wedding night.
His gaze switches to the nightstand, and I know exactly what he’s looking at.
Releasing my hands, he picks up my rings; all the while, he’s still inside me.
He takes my left hand, his touch hot and deliberate, and a darker look sweeps through his eyes as he slides the rings back onto my finger.
My stomach tightens at the heat of his skin against mine and that possessive gleam in his eyes that says I belong to him whether I admit it or not.
“Never take them off.” His voice drops, low and commanding, as he braces his arms on either side of me. “You wear those rings for me, wife. Not for the cameras. Forme.”
Oh my God. I should hate the way he says that. Hate that command in his voice.
I should at the very least pull away. But instead, I allow every word to wrap around me like a promise I don’t want to break.
“Do you hear me, Isla? Never take them off again.” His gaze locks with mine, demanding I answer.
“Yes.” I’m surprised I can still talk. And sound coherent.
“Good girl,” he murmurs, his gaze still pinned to me like he’s stripping me apart and claiming me all at once. “Ready to go again?”
A tremor skitters down my spine. “Again?”
“Again, Mrs. Vale. I’m not done with you yet.”His eyes burn through me with hunger, and I feel his cock lengthening again. “Like I said, I need to fuck you.”
A slow sinful grin tugs at his lips, and when he moves to my lips, I move toward him, too.
Before we said I do, he held me captive with his contract and clauses.
But now, Knox Vale has a grip on something else, too.
Chapter Twenty-Five
Isla
Sleep holdsme like a warm tide, pulling me under again and again.
Somewhere in the haze, I feel him.
The heat of Knox’s body presses along my back, and the ghost of last night sinks into my skin.
I feel it all. The whisper of his breath against my neck. The way he touched me. The way he said my name like it meant something.
For a heartbeat, I drift in that warmth…
Until it disappears.
Cold seeps into the sheets where his body should be. I try to reach for him, but my limbs feel heavy, boneless, unwilling to move. I’m too tired, too wrung out to open my eyes. So, I stay there, caught in the timeless space between asleep and awake.
