FINISHING UP A DELICIOUS supper of poached salmon with vegetables and rice that Austin cooked for her, Marcy laid down her knife and fork.

“I think I’d like to go back to work. I miss being there, and I’m sure there is a ton of work to catch up on.”

Austin put down his fork. “Are you sure you’re well enough?”

She made a face. “We make love almost every night, and I have managed just fine. I’m pretty sure sitting at my office doing paperwork and making phone calls is nowhere near as strenuous.” She chuckled.

Austin grinned. “I tell you what. Why don’t you try a few half days and see how they go?”

“Sounds good. Would you mind driving me home in the afternoons?”

Austin nodded. “I think I can agree to those terms. It will be good to have you back at the company. I have missed seeing you at the weekly meetings.”

She leaned back in her chair. “Have you?” she smiled.

The corner of his mouth curled. “I have. Even though your sexy curves make it hard for me to concentrate.” He winked.

Life with him was much more fun and interesting than she ever dreamed it would be. “I could get used to this,” she joked.

Austin’s brows lifted. “What do you mean?”

She motioned with her hands toward the room. “To living here with you.” Not to mention the hot sex.

“I love you being here.” He smiled at her.

They picked up their wine glasses and went to the living room to sit in front of the fire. On the couch, she snuggled into the crook of Austin’s arm, placing her hand on his thigh. He let out a breath, then moved to look at her.

Marcy studied him. “What is it?” she asked.

Austin took her hand between his. “There is something I want to say.” His gaze burned into hers.

Her stomach did somersaults, wondering what it could be.

“You are my mate. There has been no one that’s made me feel the way I do when I’m with you.

When I faced the thought of losing you, I nearly lost my mind.

I can’t see myself ever wanting to live without you. I want you to stay here,” said Austin.

Marcy’s heart swelled with happiness. “I know we are mates. I’ve known that since the hospital.” She couldn’t stop smiling.

“Good. So, will you live here with me? Move in?” he asked.

Marcy beamed. “Are you kidding me? Try to make me leave.” She giggled and leaned in to kiss him, pressing her hand to his chest.

Something inside told her she could trust Austin with her heart. Everything he’d done proved that.
