Wedding Night

Lark

I ’d been waiting for this moment since he slipped that ring on my finger.

No more running. No more danger. Just us. In a cabin filled with soft music, a trail of rose petals that neither of us would admit to sprinkling, and a man who looked at me like I held the sun between my fingers.

Axel lifted me in his arms, grinning. “You sure you’re ready for this, Mrs. Martin?”

“Born ready,” I whispered, tugging him close.

The kiss started soft. Then deeper. Then all-consuming.

Buttons popped. Clothes hit the floor. His hands knew exactly where to go—rough and gentle, slow and needy. We didn’t rush. We savored.

“I love you,” he whispered against my neck.

“Then prove it,” I said, pulling him with me toward the bed.

I was eager and hot, as though it was my first time. Was it because I was making love with my wife for the first time? I knew how to please a woman—God knows I’d perfected my technique over the years—but this was different. This was Lark.

The need to be with her made me ache. I’d never felt this way before; I loved this woman more than anything in the world.

Lark wasn’t shy with me or hesitant. She stroked my back, my shoulders, and my arms. I could feel her heart pounding, and when I touched her breast, she arched against me and moaned softly.

Her legs moved restlessly against me. I kissed the side of her neck and slowly moved lower, taking my time, teasing and tormenting her the entire time. My tongue gently tickled her collarbone, and at last, when he reached her breast, I felt her tighten around me.

I began to slowly drive her out of her mind. I had no idea her breasts were so sensitive, but she lost a bit more control with each stroke of my tongue.

I was losing control as well. I took a deep, shuddering breath and passionately kissed her. My hands trembled. I kissed her again, hard, quick, and then pulled away. Gazing into her eyes.

“I love you so much, Lark.”

“I love you, too. I’m so happy we found each other. We are going to have a wonderful life together.”

“Yes, we will, sweetheart. Now let’s get back to where we were.”
