He sighed, understanding that I wouldn’t be persuaded into putting it off any longer. “He’s still at the twins’ place.”
“The ones with the kidnapping hobby?”
A faint smirk. “I think you’ll get along with them.”
“I should make them call me Uncle,” I declared with a smirk.
Wes’s lips twitched, but it didn’t quite become a smile. I would’ve never guessed when we first met that he was such a worrywart. “They’ve kept him in the basement. He’s alive. I can’t promise he’s in one piece. They’ve been waiting on me to tell them what you wanted done, but they really fucking hate waiting.”
“Well, tell them they don’t have to wait anymore. Let’s go after lunch.”
He looked like he wanted to argue again, but something in my face must’ve stopped him. “Okay, doll. I know I can’t keep you here forever.”
“I don’t know, your nephews would probably disagree with that statement,” I joked, finally getting a full smile from him as he laughed.
He shook his head and leaned over me, brushing his thumb along the edge of the gauze on my chest. “I just want to keep you safe. You know that, right?”
“I know. But I don’t need to be coddled, old man.”
He chuckled as he straightened. “Old man, huh? Don’t think an old man would be able to fuck you into the mattress as hard as you like,” he flirted.
“Maybe you just take a lot of Viagra?”
“I think I need to shut you up for a bit,” he said lowly, his eyes darkening.
“But lunch—”
He rose onto his knees and began unbuttoning his jeans. My stomach tightened with heat at the sight.
“Oh, I’ll feed you, babydoll. Just lie back and let me fuck that bratty little mouth.”
I whimpered, “Yes, sir.”

By the time we got in the car, the afternoon had settled into that strange half-light—gray clouds bruising the edges of the sky, the kind that made everything feel heavier. Wes drove in comfortable silence, one hand on the wheel, the other draped loosely over the gearshift, wrist still healing. I watched his knuckles flex with every turn.God, what I would do to have those powerful hands around my neck…
I shifted in the passenger seat. Wes had really turned me into a slut for him.
After the rough throat-fucking he’d given me, he’d given me a toe-curling orgasm in the form of a prostate massage, but I was learning one orgasm a day was much too little. Maybe I could get him to fuck me after we were done with this.
The twins lived on the outskirts of the city—technically just outside the limits, tucked away in the type of seclusion onlypeople with money could afford. The house itself was fucking huge—a modern mansion, really.
When Wes parked, I caught sight of one of them on the porch, although I couldn’t tell which one it was. Whoever it was watched us with bored interest.
Wes must’ve noticed me looking. “That’s Hudson. I wouldn’t bother with trying to tell them apart if I were you. They act as a unit. There’s not much individuality between them, honestly. I’m still not fully convinced that they don’t have some kind of twin telepathy or something.”
“Noted,” I exhaled.
We got out. My legs ached from disuse, my chest tugged with each breath, but I didn’t let it show. Wes hovered, ready to steady me if I stumbled. I pretended not to notice.
Hudson grinned as we approached. “Well, well. The infamous Ro.”
“Infamous? I’m flattered,” I said dryly.
“You must be worth quite a lot for what we had to deal with.”
“Yeah,” I answered, not letting him play with my emotions. “And thank you, by the way. For helping with the warehouses and everything.”
