“Fuck you, Derek.” I hissed.
“Wrong answer, you sorry son of a bitch.” Derek kicked me in the stomach before his fist cracked me across the face again.
I grunted with the blows and fell the rest of the way to the ground, lying flat on my back, barely able to look up at him. “I’ll show you what happens to those who fuck with me and what’s mine.” He promised.
And with a swift kick to the face, I blacked out.
Iwokeupona cold, hard cot. I could hear the sounds of bars rattling and deep voices surrounding me. Prying open my eyes, I looked around the room at the cream-colored walls.
“He finally wakes.” I didn’t need to look over to know who was speaking to me or to understand where I now was.Fuck…
“You know…” I paused. “This is all your fucking fault, Adrian,” I growled, pressing my palm to the side of my head as I sat up on my cot to face him.
I guess I was his cellmate now. That didn’t take long.
“Blame me all you want, you were the one who ran like a fucking pussy once SWAT showed up.” He spoke coolly. “Did you even stay for the gun show?” His words dripping with sarcasm. I had zero tolerance for his bullshit.
I could feel the rage burning deep inside of me. Here, there were no ranks between us, and I knew as well as he did that there were plenty of other inmates here who would love to bury him six feet under.
“Because unlike you, I’m not some power-hungry motherfucker that burned all his goddamn bridges in one night over a single woman.” I shot him a pointed glare. “I ran because I knew we stood no fucking chance against the SWAT team, and I wasn’t about to get myself arrested.”
“And yet here you are a week later. Running didn’t seem to do you any good. Did it?” He shrugged. “And don’t act like you are the better man in this cell; you sacrificed one woman for another. Who’s the fucked up one here?”
“Fuck you.” I snarled as I launched myself at him, not giving a fuck about the consequences.
Adrian fucking ruined everything, and if I were going to spend the rest of my life behind bars, he would spend the rest of his paying for it.
The End.
