Like all chess pieces,the King doesn’t realize that it’s an invisible hand who controls his moves.
And so, the King is dead.
I let him believe he was the mastermind. That he would reap some benefits of our triumph. A fool like the rest of them, the King was vicious. Brutal. Determined.
And, ultimately, flawed.
He, like so many before him, has failed.
And I remain trapped in my watery cell.
But there are others to enlist. Others who will carry out my will.
Unlike my foes, those precious flowers, I have the luxury of time.
What’s a few months when you have waited centuries to right an ancient wrong?
