Page 62 of Alpha's Embrace
“But I am. And you came willingly with me, right?”
I nodded hesitantly. It was true. But it wasn’t fair. I couldn’t resist him when he was in this mode. His Alpha scent was triple strong compared to when we first met. His Burn was coming on. I could smell it and what made it worse was the fact that he was unbonded. And the way he took charge commanding me, though gentle, made him irresistible to me.
I wasn’t Omega but I wasn’t Alpha, either. In Geo’s presence, I simply responded. As a Sylph. For me that meant a dire urge to mate, to bond, to make him mine, for my Burn never receded, never rested.
My whole body gave a shudder from my toes to the top of my head.
“I have food in the back in a cooler. I have pillows. You can get some sleep if you want.”
I turned to him, watching his profile dimly lit in the lights from the dash. “Where are we going?”
“It’s some distance. We’ll be driving all the rest of tonight.”
“And there we’ll be safe?”
“Yes.”
“And together?”
“Yes.”
“Geo?”
He turned his head slightly, listening.
“You’ve lost your whole career for me. Your life here. Everything.”
“No. I haven’t. I’m young. I can start my career over. What I’ve done is gain a life. You. I was nothing before I met you. It may have taken me awhile to realize it but it’s right. It feels whole now.”
“But we barely know each other.”
“That’s the thing. We do. In here.” He tapped the side of his head. “A bond has been forming since we met. I know you feel it.”
A bond? Of course I felt a connection. But was he actually confirming a bond? I had to be dreaming. “I do feel it. Even now. But I thought it was my imagination.”
“It’s real.”
“But we never had sex. Don’t you have to have sex to form a bond? And I’m not an Omega. No one knows if Sylphscanbond.”
“They can. I have the blood tests to prove it.”
“You didn’t tell me this.”
“No and I’m sorry. Apparently, skin to skin contact between us was sufficient. That, and maybe it’s as simple as being superbly compatible. That fact is not in any text. I was ignorant. But I’m still to blame. I wasn’t careful. For that I’m sorry.”
“No, you were not careful.” Nor was I. “But I’m not sorry.” I paused. “You have blood tests, you said?”
“Yes.”
“Mine as well?”
“Yes.”
“The bond is truly real?”
Geo caught his lower lip between his teeth. He kept his eyes on the road, but his right hand reached over to me and touched my wrist. “Yes.”
I moved my hand up and curled my fingers around his. “So that’s why Doctor Prim came to see me.”
