“Yes,” I breathe out around another sob. “Of course I’ll marry you.” He grins even wider, if that’s possible, and reaches for my left hand, which I happily extend to him. He slides the simple white gold band over my finger and presses a kiss to it once it’s in place. I pull him up to me and kiss him soundly on the lips, my tongue seeking entrance to his mouth.
He obliges and strokes my tongue withhis, the warm, wet heat of him sending shivers through my body. But I refuse to ruin the moment I promise myself to this man for the rest of my life, by getting a boner in broad daylight.
“I love you so much,” I whisper into his mouth when he pulls away, ever so slightly, barely creating any space between us.
“I love you too, baby.” He kisses the tip of my nose before a suspiciously cheeky grin takes over his face. “You know the best bit about all this?” he asks.
“No, what?”
“You get to plan a wedding – with my mother.”
He laughs uncontrollably. Bev has been all over us to get married for months, and I know she’s going to be all over this. But I don’t think Aidan realises how much I don’t care about that. I have a mum again. And if she wants to go all mother hen over the wedding plans, I’m going to damn well let her. Because at the end of it, I get to marry Aidan.
And that is the happy ending I never thought I’d get.
