Page 15 of A Temptation Too Great (Knights of Purgatory Syndicate #3)
Chapter Eleven
Moira
I know I shouldn’t be on my own, but I can’t process anything after talking to the physician.
I need to make a decision, and it’s not as hard as I thought it would be.
Brody was right. We’re stronger together, and right now, I need all the strength I can get.
I wandered around town for a while, just thinking, keeping to the shadows.
I left my mobiles in my bag with Ari because I knew Lex could track me.
Now I’m in the back of a black cab as it winds through the warehouse district. I’ve made my choice, and this is the first step. I have to accept him completely. All of him.
We pull up to the temporary location for the Knights of Purgatory MC, and I pay the cabbie with the little amount of cash I have in my wallet.
I get out and glance down at the scrubs Arianna gave me.
Not exactly sexy, especially with two black eyes from my broken nose.
I wanted to impress his club, but I can’t wait any longer.
I know in my soul it was Eoin who attacked me.
Two men stand at the door, both intimidating in size, but I don’t let it show. I hold my head high and walk straight up to them. The only thing I’m still wearing from my original outfit is my boots. Everything else was ruined, covered in blood and mud.
“I’m here to see Brody.” I pause and remember something he said to me once. “I mean… Harvester.”
They nod and open the door without questioning who I am. Maybe they already know. I step inside, expecting to see half-dressed women. Instead, it’s just a bunch of guys sitting around tables, talking and drinking. No women. Just men. They stop and look at me as the door clicks shut.
“Moira.” Carson walks toward me. “You’re okay. He’s been worried sick. Come on.” He doesn’t touch me, just gestures for me to follow.
We head toward a flight of stairs that leads up to an enclosed loft. When we reach the top, he knocks on the door.
“Not a fecking good time,” Brody barks from the other side.
“I got it from here,” I say to Carson. He nods and steps back.
I open the door and step inside. Brody is at his desk, eyes fixed on the computer screen.
“I said it’s not a good—” He stops when he sees me, then is up and around the desk, stalking toward me. “Why did you leave the hospital? Are you okay? What are you doing here?” He rattles off the questions, one after the other.
I smile timidly and push my hair behind my ear. I glance around and spot my bags sitting on his desk.
“I needed a moment to think.” I pause, then remember his second question. “I’m okay, but we need to talk.”
Before I can tell him why I’m here, he starts talking.
“I’m not ending this. You’re mine. I’ve told you that repeatedly. I don’t care if you’re scared or if your brother threatened me. I’m not letting you go.”
He grips my arm and pulls me toward him. He’s careful not to hold on too tight, but he leads me over to his desk. Then he turns to face me. He lifts me up onto the desk and cages my body with his arms.
“Wait I need to tell you something.”
But before I can finish, his mouth takes mine in a deep, soul-stealing kiss.
I fall into the haze of him, just like I always do.
And before I know it, I’m naked from the waist up, and he’s pushing me back onto the desk.
He tugs my pants down my legs, and I hear his buckle hit the floor before he’s at my core.
“Feck, baby, you’re always ready for me.”
He slides through my pussy and enters me in one deep thrust. My eyes cross and my back arches as he grabs onto my breasts, squeezing them before he’s moving inside me. There is a small ache from his grip, but it turns me on more, ramping me up to my orgasm faster.
“I have to be gentle, Moira, but I’m going to prove to you that we are made for each other, and you aren’t leaving me. I’m never going to be done with you. I’ll kill anyone to keep you safe.” With each statement, he moves deeper and harder into my body.
My ribs sting, but I won’t tell him. I need him. I want him. All of him.
“Brody.” I moan his name, and he slams into me harder. “Brody, don’t stop,” I beg.
“I’m hurting you.” He slows down, and I growl in frustration.
Now he’s done it.
Pushing up off the desk, I grab his hand and place it on my belly. “You’d better never give me up. I love you. Daddy.”
His eyes flare wide, and he looks down at his hand before his fingers curl against my stomach. He pulls out, and I groan.
“Don’t you forget about me.”
“Never, spitfire,” he says, then kisses my stomach, over and over. “Is the baby okay?”
“They did ultrasounds. The baby is safe and sound. After you get done showing me how much of a badarse you are, you can see them.”
He chuckles, and I can’t help but laugh too.
“I’m going to show you a badarse. I love you too, baby.”
He slides back into my body and starts moving with more purpose and deeper thrusts. Before I know it, I’m coming and crying out his name. He groans and lies over me.
“I don’t want to discuss this while you’re still inside me, but you need to know I was going to choose you, even before I found out about the baby.
I just needed time to process everything I’ve been realizing.
” I take a breath before continuing. “Today, I found evidence that my brother might have had something to do with my mam’s murder.
And I found out my father has been on the take for several years.
He’s the reason Britain found Giselle. He could be helping Britain’s father go after Shane. We need to warn him.”
He slides out of my body and pulls up his jeans before heading to the attached bathroom. When he returns, he helps clean me up, then leans down to kiss my stomach again.
“I messed with your alarm,” he confesses.
I turn to look at him as I pull the scrubs back on.
I can’t even be mad at him. I just shake my head. “Yeah, I wondered if it was you. But why? Why would you bring a baby into this crazy mix?”
“I needed to tie you to me in every way I could. I had a feeling you were going to run. I just didn’t expect you to do it so soon. You and our baby are the most important things in my life. I’d give up everything here”—he gestures around the room—“for you. You are all I need.”
I step back into his space and reach up, my hand brushing along his scratchy cheek. I love the feel of his stubble against my palm as much as I do between my legs.
“I want you just the way you are. Leather cut. Bad boy and all. I love you for the man you are, both bad and good.” I press my hand to his bare chest, right over his heart, where the tattoo for his mam sits beside the flowers that represent the month I was born.
He reaches down and kisses me, long and deep, before releasing me.
I dig into my bag and pull out my old mobile. When I hand it to him, he glances at it, then at me. I take out my new one and slip it into the pocket on my thigh.
“I got an email. They threatened to kill you and Fiona if I didn’t leave you. I’m sure it was my brother.”
Brody
I look down at her mobile. I never checked her email, and now I regret it.
I would have seen this message sooner. She thinks it’s her brother, but I know who it’s really from.
I know how my brother felt when his girl became the focus of this madman.
Now my girl and our unborn child are caught in the crossfire too.
Lifting Moira up, I sit her down on the desk again. She smacks at my hands.
“Brody, we need to get this figured out. We can’t shag again.”
I push past her knees and pull her into my body, holding her tightly as the panic washes over me. She feels me trembling and wraps her arms around me.
“Brody? Brody, what’s the matter?” I hear the panic in her voice, but right now, I can’t rationalize my fear.
We hold each other for a few silent minutes, taking in everything. Then, finally, a switch snaps in my head as I hear my mam’s voice.
Being with your da is hard, but every day I wake up and decide I’m going to fight for my marriage.
That I want this to work. Someday you’ll have to make that choice too.
When it happens, you’ll know that everything you did was for that lass you love, for that woman you made a vow to.
The Knights will be here tomorrow, but will she?
Prove to her you want her there. That she means the world to you.
Mam was right. I’m not going to let anyone take Moira away from me. She is my everything.
I lean back and cup her cheeks in my hands. “I love you. I’ve told you I’ll choose you. You said you’ll choose me. Let me protect you.” I hold up her mobile. “This right here is not your brother unless he’s working with an extremely dangerous man. A man named?—”
“Sir,” she finishes, and I nod at her.
“How do you know that name?”
“I heard Patrick say it to Fiona.” She pauses, and for a moment her eyes wander, then focus back on me. “My brother, at first I thought he was talking to one of his superiors, but then I realized he calls them lieutenant or captain, not Sir.”
“When was this?”
I try to hold in the fear that she’s been exposed to him more than I realized. He could have had her in his sights for longer.
“About six months ago, I was at the house visiting my father and had to get something from my old room. I walked past Eoin’s room and overheard him on his mobile.
I didn’t hear everything, and I didn’t realize the significance until I heard what Patrick said.
Fiona then told me that Sir was a bad man who was going after her cousin and now Tiernan International and the Knights. ”
“Yes. Feck. This changes so much. Come on, baby, we need to get to the compound where you’ll be safest. On the way, you’re going to tell me why you think Eoin was the one who attacked you.”
I’m about to lead her from the room to the main floor where my armored SUV waits in the attached garage when my mobile buzzes in my pocket. I pull it out and see Lex calling.
