Page 6 of A Reaper’s Devotion (The Reapers #2)
C yrus had every intention of keeping that little morsel of information to himself. Only, he didn’t want any secrets between them. He knew about Willow’s writing as her mother had dropped that little nugget several years ago.
He hadn’t told anyone, and besides, being a Reaper, they all had to know what was happening in the town. They made sure no one made any bad investments that would bring bad blood to the town. They kept an eye on everyone and everything.
Willow’s writing was harmless, and his curiosity had gotten the better of him, and yes, he read a few of her books. He loved them. He also knew Willow had a very wild imagination that amazed him.
She didn’t have to say anything but he knew she was a virgin and had never been with a man.
Her devotion to her family had kept her off the dating scene, and he also knew she hadn’t dated through high school.
She never went to prom, and instead stayed home, spending time with her parents.
It had been a rough decade, and he intended to make up for such a bad time.
Arriving in his truck, he went and knocked on the door, waiting for her to answer.
He expected her to make some kind of excuse not to come with him, but as it was, she opened the door wearing a beautiful dark blue dress with a lighter shade of blue flowers.
It hugged her breasts and waist, and flared out at the hips, in a full-style skirt that came to below her knees.
She had pulled her brown hair back into a clip so it was still around her shoulders but away from her face. She looked so stunning.
“Evening,” he said.
She had minimal makeup on.
“Evening.”
He held out his hand. “Are you ready?”
She looked nervous. Even as she squared her shoulders, she appeared as if she was going into battle, but she didn’t have anything to fear.
“Yes, I’m ready.”
She closed up her house, placed her arm through his, and he helped her into his truck. Closing the door, he rounded his truck and climbed inside, then put it into gear and took off toward the bar.
Cyrus didn’t say anything, giving her the chance to get accustomed to being in his car, and just letting her think. He had nothing to say, and it was good just having her vanilla scent close.
By the time he pulled up to the bar’s parking lot, she hadn’t said a word. He already heard the music coming from the bar, and as there was no band tonight, he knew it was from the stereo.
“We’re here,” he said.
“Wait.” She turned toward him. “I’ve ... how did you know?”
He was not going to play dumb. “Your mom told me.”
“Why?”
“She wanted to brag about you, and I guess she knew I wasn’t going to tell anyone.”
“You’re not disappointed?”
“Babe, why would I be disappointed?”
“I don’t know, I just, it is not something everyone writes, and I don’t want you to get the wrong impression. I’m not...” She stopped and he was pretty sure he could see her blushing beneath the makeup.
“Willow, I know you’re still a virgin. I think it is amazing that you’re still able to write everything you do.
I’m not going to judge you. You’ve got a gift, and regardless of what people think, fuck them.
They don’t have to like it. I like you. I want to go in there and dance with you, but I am going to be honest, I sure as shit want to show you what it means to have a good time like some of those men show their women.
I’ll give you the real thing. Me. I know what I’m doing, and trust me, Willow, you give yourself to me completely, and I promise you, I will set your whole world on fire, in a good way. ”
She smiled.
“Now, how about we go in there and dance? That’s what I want to do.” He climbed out of his truck, went to her side, and held his hand out for her to take. “Isn’t that what you want?”
She slid her hand into his, and he helped her out of the truck, making sure to rub her body against his as he eased her down onto the ground. He stared into her eyes and didn’t look away.
“Are you going to trust me?” he asked.
“Yes.”
He cupped her cheek, sinking his fingers into her hair, and then he pulled her down close and took possession of her lips in their first real kiss. Cyrus didn’t have any specific plans for their first real kiss, but this would do.
At first, Willow was still beneath his touch. He knew she hadn’t been kissed, or at least he hoped no other man had ever gotten this close to her. The way she kissed him back, he knew no one else had ever touched her before, and she was fucking heaven. He wanted to be her teacher.
His cock tightened in his pants, and there was no way he was breaking his word. Even though all he wanted to do was get her ass back in the truck, take her home, and show her how a real man treats a woman, he’d promised her dancing. Pulling away, he gained control.
“Dancing,” he said.
Her lips were nice and red, plump, and anyone who looked at her would know she had been thoroughly kissed, which was exactly what he wanted.
With her on his arm, he walked to the bar. It was busy, but he didn’t expect anything less. He noticed several of The Reapers were present. He spotted Daniel, which was a surprise. Since he settled down with Amy, he was rarely seen late at the bar. Cyrus wasn’t going to question it.
There were no available tables, so he banded an arm around Willow’s waist and walked behind her, taking her straight to the bar. He ordered them both a beer, and it would be the only one they had that night.
Daniel served them, but there was no time to linger. There were a lot of tourists still visiting Lost Creek, which made sense for the number of Reapers still there. Whenever they had a lot of tourists, Reapers kept a close eye on them.
With a beer, he kept ahold of Willow, but was also on guard, in case any shit went down.
The music was upbeat, and he took a swig of his drink. It was nice, cold, and refreshing.
He noticed Willow wrinkle her nose, and he couldn’t help but laugh. Taking the beer from her, he wasn’t going to waste any time, and quickly had her on the dance floor in his arms, as he started to show her a damn good time.
Even though the dance floor was full and people were bumping into each other, no one was aggravated. They were all enjoying the last heat of summer. He had already seen that temperatures were going to drop next week, and he was not happy about it, but it wasn’t like he could do anything.
The tourists would dwindle until there were only a few, and besides, Lost Creek always immersed itself into the fall festivities.
There was the annual popular October Potluck.
Not to mention the numerous parties leading up to Halloween.
The town of Lost Creek entertained itself. The tourists were just an added bonus.
He spun Willow in his arms, pulling her back against him. The smile on her lips meant everything to him. He wanted to be the reason she was enjoying life.
They danced for a good hour, and they were both sweating. He couldn’t keep his hands off her.
When they got to the bar, she told him she needed to use the bathroom. He ordered them both sodas. The beers they left on the bar were long gone. Daniel was still there, and he served them each a soda.
“Do we have any update?” Cyrus asked.
He wasn’t going to spoil Willow’s night.
“We do and you’re not going to like it. He lives about an hour’s drive from here.”
“Okay, and what am I not going to like?” Cyrus asked.
“He’s not connected to any gang or anything. However, random girls have gone missing in the last ten years, and all of them match the same description as the girl he took,” Daniel said.
“An hour’s drive from here puts this outside of Lost Creek,” Cyrus said.
“I know, but I’m heading over to his home. I need to know what we’re dealing with. I don’t want any blowback to the town. You want in?” he asked.
“Yeah, I’ll be ready. We leaving early?”
“I want to be gone by seven,” Daniel said.
Cyrus agreed, and then pulled away as he saw Willow coming back to him. He didn’t know if she saw him talking with Daniel, but it didn’t matter.
“Are you having a good time?” he asked.
“Yeah, I am.”
****
C yrus pulled his truck into the small parking space in front of her home. The main lights illuminated the whole street.
Willow looked toward her home, then over to Cyrus.
“I had a great time tonight,” she said.
“Me too.”
“Do you want to come in for coffee?” she asked.
“Willow, I want to come in, but not to drink coffee. I want to ... lick your pussy,” he said.
His words made her bite her lip, and then glance down at the dashboard.
He was being honest with her. Willow wasn’t a fool. She knew about the town Reapers, and she also knew their identities needed to be kept silent.
“I think, seeing as you’ve been honest with me, I think it is only fair I’m honest with you.
” She pressed her lips together. She wasn’t going to say anything, at least not for a long time.
“I know you’re a Reaper,” she said. There, she just blurted it out.
“I know you can’t say anything, and I shouldn’t know, but I do.
That’s why you went and dealt with that guy.
It’s why the list of people I have to call in case of an emergency is not just the sheriff, it’s you or Daniel, or George, or Hank, and so many others. ”
He didn’t say anything.
“Are you mad?” Willow asked.
“No, I’m not mad, just shocked.”
“Mom knew Dad was one,” Willow said. “He was honest with the two of us, and he was also honest that he couldn’t remain as one either. It really upset him. I hope I’ve not broken any code.”
He shook his head. “Family members tend to know, or not know. I think it depends on the person and if they feel they can handle it.”
“You knew my secret and I guess I wanted you to know that I also knew yours.” She turned to look at him. “Does that change anything?”
“No, I still want to lick your pussy, but what I can tell you is that tomorrow morning, I’ve got to leave early to do Reaper things.”
“Okay.”
