Page 138 of A Legal Affair
His low chuckle rumbled through her. “Fine, we won’t elope. But only because I want to see you in this tearjerker dress.”
She smiled at him, suddenly shy. “I hope you love it.”
“I will.” He gave her a dirty grin. “I’m gonna love yououtof it even more.”
She laughed and resettled her head on his shoulder. An expectant hush had fallen over the lawn as the huge screen flickered to life and the film’s opening credits began rolling.
As soon as Daniela saw the swishing blond hair and heard the song “Perfect Day” by Hoku, she gasped and bolted upright like the Leonardo DiCaprio pointing meme. “Oh my God!Legally Blonde!”
Caleb threw back his head and laughed as a wave of laughter roared through the crowd.
Daniela burst into giggles, and as heads swiveled in their direction, she covered her face with her hands and let out a laughing groan.
“Got you good,” Caleb teased smugly.
“You did, damn you,” she choked out between giggles. Apparently their little inside joke wasn’t so “inside” anymore.
When she finally peeked through her fingers,Legally Blondehad been swapped out for the feature film, and everyone was staring at the screen instead of her.
She shook her head at Caleb. “Please tell me no one else knows about my Elle Woods power suit, or the striptease I did for you that night.”
“Well…”
“Caleb!”
Laughing, he pulled her to him and kissed her full on the mouth, deeply, tenderly, fingers cupping her chin while his thumb trailed her jaw. “No, Daniela,” he murmured, “I didn’t tell anyone about your pink suit or the naughty striptease.”
“You better not have,” she warned, but she was smiling now. “Your payback is coming, buddy, just when you least suspect it.”
“Promises, promises,” he taunted, his voice dropping to a seductive whisper that sent molten fire coursing through her. “I can’t wait to get you all to myself tonight.”
“Yeah?” Her voice was breathy. “I can’t wait, either.”
“Good.” His hand slid down to her thigh, tugging at the hem of her slinky dress.
She put her hand over his. “What’re you doing?”
“What do you think I’m doing? I’m enjoying my wife-to-be and the future mother of my children.”
She shivered at his words, biting her lip as she furtively glanced around. “What if someone sees us?”
“Relax. No one’s paying attention to us. And we’re half hidden by these branches.” His hand slid under her dress, histhumb rubbing slow, lazy circles on her bare thigh. Heat flew through her veins, hardening her nipples into tight points.
“Caleb—”
“Shh, I got you.” He lifted her to sit sideways on his lap. Then he pulled up a corner of the large blanket and spread it over her legs, creating an intimate little tent that concealed his movements in case the branches weren’t enough. “Better?”
“Yes, but?—”
“I love you,” he rumbled, staring into her eyes as his finger traced the edge of her silk and lace panties. “I can’t wait to watch you walk down the aisle to me. I can’t wait to exchange our vows, to hear us pronounced husband and wife. I can’t wait to whisk you off to Italy for an un-fucking-forgettable honeymoon. I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life cherishing you, loving you every which way, making you as ridiculously happy as you’ve made me.”
“Oh, baby.” Her heart completely melted, and she let out a dreamy little sigh. “I feel the s—” She broke off, moaning as a single thick fingertip stroked her pussy through her panties, setting off a tiny explosion inside her. “Oh God…”
“Still worried someone will see us?” His voice was dark and playful, his thumb teasing the very edge of her dampness.
Her knees pressed together, a feeble attempt to deny him. “They…they could still hear us. Sounds carry.”
He leaned in closer, his breath warm against her ear. “Then be quiet, baby. Or don’t.” His finger circled and rubbed her clit through the delicate silk, a featherlight touch that made her entire body clench.
