Christmastide (Neutral Reality Portal - Emily and Jessa’s Modern Day)
The meeting hall at the heart of the village, festooned in ivy, red ribbons, and a gorgeous tree with twinkling Christmas lights, rang with laughter and holiday music.
All the villagers and Weavers, both light and dark, and Emily’s parents and brothers feasted on every treat imaginable while enjoying the adorable antics of the MacAlester triplets and the MacStrath twins.
“Who would have thought we would be married and mamas to triplets and twins all because of a tarot app that refused to be deleted off your phone?” Emily separated Quinn from Jessa’s son Lucian and aimed him at a different pile of toys.
Just because all the babies were close in age didn’t mean they always played well with each other.
“We don’t hit our friends, Quinn. Stay here and play by yourself for a while. ”
Jessa laughed. “You know that’s not going to work. Those two can’t stand to be separated even though they pick on each other all the time—and yes, who would’ve thought a phone app would be the seed that grew into all of this.”
“And we still have Mama and Papa and the fearsome five—all because of our stubbornness.” Emily smiled at her mother, jostling Saersy on one hip and Jessa’s daughter Meira on the other. The little girls, even though toddlers, already banded against the three boys and usually reigned victorious.
“We did good,” Jessa said with a loving nod at her husband, Grant. “And we’re happy.”
“More than happy,” Emily said with an adoring smile aimed at Gryffe. “We’re content.”
“To contentment.” Jessa lifted her glass.
Emily did the same. “Yes. To contentment and finding the missing piece of our souls’ puzzle.”
