“Mmhmm,” he murmured back, as the music drew to an end, bringing the two partners together.

“Alexander, you… you have no idea how happy that makes me,” she spoke, her voice on the verge of breaking. She had been afraid of mentioning this before because she feared that it might all be too soon, too early somehow, but now, she could see that they shared the same desires about their lives together and it made her even happier than she was, if such a thing was even possible.

Slowly, she continued, not taking her eyes off of him. “Because my monthlies have been two months late. Now, I don’t know if it is too early to tell, but—”

“Really?” he gushed, wrapping his arms around her and lifting her high up into the air, swirling her about. Once he settled her down onto the ground once again, she could see the look of sheer joy etched on his handsome face. She wondered how sweet and lovely their little boy would be, a boy that looked exactly like his father. Or perhaps a little girl with her voice and her own tenderness. Anna loved both visions equally.

“You don’t think it is too early?” she asked a little apprehensively.

She wondered if the timing was right. Then again, the timing had been wrong for almost everything when it came to their love story, and still, they were victorious in the end. They had fought hard for each other and managed to find their way back, against all odds stacked against them.

Also, there was no perfect timing in life. Things came one after the other, and one had to make a choice. And her choice would always be to stay with him.

“No.” he hastily shook his head. “I feel ready for anything with you, Anna. Anything and everything…”

“I feel the same way about you, my darling,” she replied, feeling her heart filled to the brim, as if it would burst. Finally, she would have the family she had always dreamed of, children she would call her own, and a husband who would love her as much as she loved him. There was nothing that could ever make her happier.

“I want to see your face in our little girl,” he whispered fondly as he gazed into her eyes.

“And I want to see your eyes in our little boy,” she replied.

They kissed tenderly, a chaste kiss that promised to unfold their new life together like the pages of a cherished novel. Anna knew they both could not wait to hear the joyous pitter-patter of little feet echoing through their stately home.

“I love you, Anna,” he said gently.

“I love you, too, Alexander,” she replied immediately.

She knew that as the years would pass, they would continue to dance through life hand in hand, their story blossoming into an even more extraordinary tale—one of passion, commitment, and the enduring power of true love.

THE END?
