Jack never told me everything I said, but I was okay with that.
Skeeter's trial is soon. Susan expects him to go to jail for a long time.
We held Cletus's memorial, and I was glad I wasn't the only one with tears in my eyes.
Susan offered to buy the brooch, but I refused. When she brought it back, I put it inside a cardboard box, took it out behind the shop, and smashed it with a hammer.
And then I salted the shards and buried the entire box in a location I'll never disclose.
We talked to Carlos about the threat from Mikhail. He says it's a dangerous situation, but he has it under control.
For now.
Jack and I resolved to keep our eyes and ears open for trouble anyway, and Jack alerted the guys at the swamp and some of his old contacts that we might have vampire trouble coming our way.
Katie decided she needed time to rest and heal. She accepted Uncle Mike and Aunt Ruby's offer to stay with them for the rest of the summer, in return for teaching Shelley how to use and control her magic. Her uncle is planning a trip to visit, and we invited him to stay with us.
I'm even starting to like her.
She surprised all of us when she went out on a date with Bubba, but I don't know what to say about that. He's a better McKee than her last boyfriend, though, that's for sure.
Since Shelley is happy with her magic lessons, she agreed to stay in school, and she's halfway through her summer reading list already.
Dr. Snow was tougher than any of us thought, because she accepted the job. She'll be moving to Dead End next month. Lauren is ecstatic about it. So now I have to set up a day for another Welcome to Dead End barbecue.
Hopefully, now that all the excitement is over, we can enjoy the rest of our summer with no fresh trouble.
But I won't say that out loud.
It is Dead End.
Respectfully submitted,
