“I’m serious. That part of my life is over and will always be over.”
“Were they bad people?”
“Yes. Excluding a few. The MC is ruthless and if you ever see them, you stay away, do you hear me? One of them ever approaches you, you run. Got me, babe?”
I nod, narrowing my eyes at him. “You talk like they’re going to be knocking on the front door one day asking to borrow a cup of sugar.”
He takes a deep breath. “Crew’s still in. So, anything is possible.”
“Oh my God, Logan.” My heart is racing. “Is he in danger?” I don't know Crew well, but I liked him, and I would be deeply saddened if anything bad happened to him.
“Crew can take care of himself. Trust me, he’ll be fine.” He grins and his eyes appear brighter. “I tell you I was in an MC and all you’re concerned about is if Crew is all right?”
“Well. Yeah. Why?”
He softly shakes his head. “You are amazing, dove. And any man is lucky to have you. I am the luckiest man to have you.”
My chest warms. “The things I’ve seen and put up with, your MC would only be another part of that list.”
The brightness fades into the dark. “You’ll never have to worry or put up with anything ever again. Not while I’m here.”
I smile. “I know.” My fingers play with the strands of his hair. “Is that how you and Crew became friends? The club?”
“Yeah.”
“You left when your dad got sick?”
“I left when I realized if I didn’t get out then, I was never getting out.”
A gasp leaves my throat, and Logan rubs circles on my bare thigh, using the bottom of his thumb. “Why did you join the MC in the first place?”
He takes a minute, pausing, contemplating how to answer. His eyes move past me and over my shoulder, peering out to the lake. “I honestly don’t know. Maybe to feel strong. Not wanting to be weak.”
“Oh, but Logan… you’re all those things on your own. You never needed any club to prove that.”
His breath staggers, eyes intense, and then he kisses me. Hard. Strong. He kisses me. When he breaks first, he rests his forehead on mine. “Jesus.”
“Yeah,” I say with bated breath. “I’ll admit, I didn’t expect all that.”
“I know. I’m sorry. I just don’t want to lie to you, Sora. Whatever is happening between us, I want total honesty.”
I smile, glancing down at Logan’s chiseled chest. Then I run my hand over his smoothness, wanting to feel his strength. “Total honesty from here on out.” I pause before going for it. “Did you.. did you ever hurt people while in the MC?” It’s a long ten seconds waiting for his response.
His jaw moves. “Yes. But it’s not what you think. They weren’t innocent people.” He inhales deeply. “I’m not proud of the things I’ve done, but I’ve learned to move on from them.”
I nod, believing him. We all have a past we left behind.
I slowly trace his ridges along his stomach once more. With a shuddered breath, Logan squeezes my hips and lifts me so I’m straddling him. My wet pussy rubs against his hard cock and a moan escapes me.
“Since we’re being honest, I’m this close to saying fuck it and sticking my cock inside you.”
“Then do it.”
“Don’t challenge me, dove.”
“I get why you’re willing to wait. For me. But Logan… I was never his.”
“Damn right you were never his, but you’ll always be mine.” Logan crashes his mouth on mine and the fireworks explode.
I move the tiniest bit, and he lets out a deep groan. “Fuck, you’re going to end me.” His hands slide up my thighs, sending my nightgown with them. He cups my bare ass and moves me, causing me to grind against him. It’s electric bliss.
He finds my lips again and this time I open for him, letting his tongue stroke mine.
It’s perfect and I don’t want him to stop, but as a harsh bang comes from Lana’s front door, it forces us apart.
My list of friends here is short, so no one should be knocking.
It would be a normal situation if my husband wasn’t trying to take me back.
“Maybe it’s Crew?” My voice shakes.
“Crew wouldn’t knock. Stay here.” Logan gently slides me off, and I scoff.
“You know that’s not going to happen.”
Logan grunts with the smallest grin. “I know. Let’s go.” He’s the first over the railing and then lifts me up and over, eyeing me with care before he heads inside first.
Lana isn’t home and she won’t be for another hour. So, who would knock this late?
“Oh, wait!”
Logan jolts from my sudden outburst.
“Sorry. But I just remembered. The app, duh.” I open it, waiting for it to load.
“I’m so glad I installed it for us not to use it.”
I smirk, but then my lips fall. “There’s no one outside.”
Logan touches my hand, tilting it to the side so he can see for himself. “What the fuck?” He stalks off, whipping open the front door and we’re both left staring at nothing but the night.
“I feel like we’re being pranked.” I’m huddled against Logan’s side, gripping his arm.
“More like being intimidated. Someone knows you’re here.”
“And what, playing ding-dong ditch? I don’t think my husband has it in him.”
“Don’t say husband.” Logan pins me with a look.
But he is my husband. We can pretend, but there’s no erasing that fact.
Logan backs us up, closing and locking the door. “You’re staying with me.”
I take a minute, processing his demand. “Don’t you think that’s moving a bit fast. We haven’t even had our first date yet.”
“Sora, I’m serious.”
“So am I. I’m not running or hiding from him anymore. If I do, I’ll be doing it for the rest of my life.”
Logan crosses his arms over his chest. “What about legal action? Divorce papers. I know you said no cops, but they might be able to help you.”
I pause, taking in his offensive demeanor. “You, of all people, should understand the police can’t help me.”
“What does that mean?”
“You were in a motorcycle club, Logan. Figure it out. You guys don’t exactly abide by rules or call the police to help.”
He lowers his arms to his sides and sighs. “Right, and that’s why I left. But this isn’t about me, Sora. It’s about you and your safety. I will not let you stay here when this fucker is stalking you and playing games.”
“And what about Lana? I can’t leave her here by herself.” I move into Logan, his large presence calming me. “Look. I appreciate the concern for me, but I’ll be okay. You’re literally sharing a wall with me.”
“It’s not a concern. It’s a rage. A violent fucking storm. The thought of anyone putting their hands on you again is not something I’m able to handle.”
I stare at him with hooded eyes. “Kiss me.”
Logan’s on me fast. Our bodies pressing to each other and suddenly, nothing else mattered.
